Hello friends welcome to my blog. It's another week of How you can make a child smile. Making a child smile or providing for their needs does not just make them happy at the moment but creates a lasting memory of Joy for them. A child who smiles always will learn to express their self and get by with challenges.

Children with special needs are isolated most times in society, but I have come to take an interest in them. A woman told me a story of her special need child who was left with poo on him when she came to pick up her son. When she complained to the school head teacher, she was asked not to bring the boy to school again because they were tired of him. That isolation made the boy always stay on his own. I think that boy needs people around him to see him like other children.
I became his friend and talked to him like any other child. Although he had little difficulty with his speech, which I didn't care about, I still tried to understand him. There was a time my child asked me how I understood what he said; I told him if looks beyond the boy's challenge, he would understand him too.
Fortunately, the mother got a school that accepted him, and the class teacher of this new school was a God-sent; she loved, taught and took care of the boy with patience. And there was an improvement in him.
The child feels safe and free with me. Knowing I come close to him and understand him. With also the help of his patient and supportive teacher there was a drastic change in him. I could remember the mother complaining of his aggressiveness before, I guess it was because he could not express himself and was not understood. But now that he feels loved, that feeling of aggressiveness is reduced.
I gifted some children in my church pen today. I noticed that most times, they come to church without a pen. When it is time for teaching, you see them walking around looking for who has a spear pen to lend them. I remember one time I lent a child my pen, and she forgot to give it back to me after the class and left with the pen but returned it the next week.
So today, I decided to gift them new pens, and they were so happy and concentrated on today's teaching as they were actively writing with their pen. I hope they don't misplace this pen so classes will continue this way.
When children are equipped with the necessary tools for learning, it encourages them to do more and increases their love for learning and concentration. Help a child in any way you can, no matter how little; you are not only investing in that child but the society at large.
I invite @kinkyamiee, @blessedbee and @woka-happiness to participate in this contest.
