What's next for you, gaming warrior of STEEM?

These are exciting times indeed. I know that a bunch of valued Steemian developers are out there, quietly and diligently working to create the next generation of STEEM games. Steemit the blogging platform may be a ghost town lately, but STEEM the blockchain remains (perhaps more than ever before) an unstoppable powerhouse of innovation.

Enter TwinForge

TwinForge is a new game of resource collection, land management, sustainable development and cooperative strategy, currently being developed on the STEEM blockchain by @Grid9Games. Early supporters (such as myself) are currently staking and claiming their towns and cities in the world of TwinForge. Check out this RECENT POST with all the details. On May 7th, the official launch of the Presale Land Fundraiser will take place, allowing anyone with a STEEM account to purchase any amount of land directly with SBD.

It's a Token, Brah!

With several of the other more established games on STEEM, I've often found myself wondering: "When will I be able to sell this?" I spend day after day frantically accumulating those in-game assets, but to what end? How can I get some cash in my pocket at the end of the day? The answer as it turns out, is surprisingly simple...

Make it a Token From the Start!

Thanks to the magnificent innovation we lovingly call Steem-Engine, the in-game assets of TwinForge will all be represented by tokens. That means that land ownership will be provable and plots of land will be easy to sell as long as someone is looking to buy. Although gameplay is still a ways off, most of the Steem-Engine tokens have already been created to assist with the Presale Land Fundraiser. TwinForge will be the first game (that I know of) to fully integrate with Steem-Engine in this way, and I am excited to watch where it takes us.

How Does TwinForge Work?

Short answer: It doesn't yet. TwinForge is being built from the ground up, with a solid and well-planned vision from an extremely capable developer. This is my understanding of how game play will work.

I have bought a single Town Reservation Token, which assured me my chosen placement on the world map and will make me the Mayor of my town, no matter how much of it I own. Within the town, there are 9 blocks of land that may be purchased at my discretion. I have purchased a single block, so I now own 1/9 of my town.

This is the first block of land in my town, which is called Splinterville. (Not included in this image is the Ancient Rune that I was lucky enough to uncover. I'm pretty much the luckiest.)
Being the Mayor of the town will earn me a stipend of Marks, the TwinForge currency, to do with as I please. As I begin to parcel out my land, divide it into smaller units and sell it to new users, I presume that various responsibilities of management will present themselves. I will pay the residents of my town to do work for me, collect resources and manage smaller projects. Day to day, the tasks of TwinForge will involve upgrades, cooperation, building and growth.

Presale Land Fundraiser

The purpose of the Presale Land Fundraiser is to fund further development of the game, but it also offers excellent benefits and rewards to the future players of TwinForge. The Presale Land buyers of today will become the TwinForge moguls of tomorrow, but they must be willing to wait for their time. This game won't be playable for a few months, at the very least. This is not an opportunity for quick, monetary rewards. We all know that blockchain gaming is rewarding, in terms of getting out what you put in, but it's wonderful that we're already thinking "What can we give back to the world?" @Grid9Games is committed to donating 10% of the TwinForge proceeds to quality, hand-picked charities. During the PreSale, actual trees will be planted as a result of the contributions. Not only am I building a virtual future for myself, but I'm playing a small part in securing the future of this reality.
