Responsibility sucks. Why would anyone chose to be responsible? I have officially decided that I am never going to grow-up and become responsible. Grown-ups are stuffy and boring. They have no sense of adventure or amazement about the universe around them. How can you look up at the night sky and not feel a sense of awe?
Then of course the flip side – What boy would want a girl that is constantly oohing and ahhing everything around her? My parents say I am too easily amused – is that a bad thing? You never know when the sky is going to fall. They call me an alarmist because I am always waiting for the ground to give-out below me. Well if I were in George and Alex’s world, it looks like we would have a new disaster to deal with every week which does seem a little extreme.
Carolyn is absolutely addicted to my adventures aboard the Daedalus. There are years and years’ worth of 50th century stories, I feel wrong telling them. My heart says my time, aboard her, was short. Long LONG Long time here – short short short time there. It feels like eons have passed since the last time I felt like myself.
Now I have no clue who I really am. My dad overheard me talking to myself. He told mom that he is concerned. She told him it is normal for teenagers to question who they are. Fine – then why the need to have a conversation with me about talking to myself?
I like to talk aloud – it helps disguise the deafening silence in my head while I am working. I just do not understand this universe. How to do you work through a complex problem? In your head, quietly? I wish I could talk with my computer. At least, if the Daedalus was answering, I would not be crazy. Ugh (again and again).
I could really use a moment with George. Just a simple conversation about how to deal with all these normal people. I hope that I can find someone like George. Never mind – I said I was never growing-up. I don’t think George could handle a constant on-the-go Lizzy. He seems more the stay in one place sort of fellow. Or maybe I would grow on him and he would follow me to the end of the universe.
