First thoughts on Steemit

So, I must say that the first few steps on Steemit lack user-friendliness and warmth:

During sign-up, there is a jumble of keys and talk of delegation, very unintuitive.
On my first post, there are 0 human responses and 7 responses by bots.
After one post and one comment, the system tells me it is time to shut up now (no more resource credits).
Unbelievably intrusive animated banner ads plastered all over.

If this process is designed to turn off 99% of new users straight off the bat, I believe it fulfils that mission splendidly.
