People always ask me how to say "Ganbatte!" in English. It's not an easy question. There are so many ways to say "Ganbatte!" in English, depending on the situation. Here are ten different ways that I hope will help make your English smoother and more native-like.
よく「頑張って!」は英語でなんていうと聞かれます。そんな簡単な質問じゃない。場合によって「頑張って!」の英語の言い方は多いです。次はあなたの英語をもっとスムーズでネイティブみたいにするといいと思う言い方です。
頑張って1番:Good Luck
(あなたに)幸運を
Good luck doesn't mean the same thing as "Ganbatte!" But we use it in many of the same situations.
「Good luck」は「頑張って!」とは意味が違います。でも同じように使う場合が多い。
Situation: When Taking a Test
A: OK, I've gotta go take my test now.
じゃ、今から試験を取りに行かないと。
B: Good luck!

頑張って2番:Do Your Best
自分のベストを尽くして
People use this phrase a lot when someone is nervous about doing something difficult. It has the nuance of "it doesn't matter if you fail, just that you try hard."
誰かが難しいことをすることに緊張している時によく使います。「失敗してもいいよ、ただ自分おベストを尽くす」というニュアンスがある。
Situation: Giving a Speech
A: God, I'm so nervous. I don't know if I can do this.
すごい緊張しているよ。できるかどうか分からない。

頑張って3番:Keep Going
行き続けてください
People use this to encourage someone to continue when something isn't finished, like work or a sporting match.
まだ終わってないことを続けるように奨励するとき、例えば仕事やスポーツに試合、に使います。
Situation: Working
A: Man, I'm beat. I don't know if I can handle much more of this.
もう疲れた。これはもちょっとだけでもできるかどうか分からない。
B: Let's keep going! I want to get this done before tomorrow.

This one is very similar to "keep going," and is used in the same situations.

If your friend just started learning how to play guitar, and isn't really improving yet, you might use this phrase to encourage them to keep practicing until they get better.

Situation: Learning to Play a Sport
A: Man, I suck so bad! I'll never be able to play!

頑張って6番:Hang In There
やめないで(直訳:そのままぶら下がってください)
This one can be used in the same way as "keep at it." But it can also be used when someone is in a difficult situation.

Situation: Running Out of Money
A: Shit. I don't have much money left. I'm gonna be broke by the end of the week.

Situation: Hating Work
A: I can't take this anymore! My boss is driving me crazy!

This is something an American football fan might yell when his team has the ball and is running for the goal. But you wouldn't use this to encourage your coworker to keep working late at night. Except if you're joking around.
これはアメリカンフットボールのファンが好きなチームがゴールへ走っている時に大声で言う言葉です。でも仕事同僚が深夜までに仕事を続けるようにこれは使わない。ふざけてる時以外。
Situation: Watching a Football Game
Announcer: He's at the 30, the 20, the 10...

頑張って8番:Show 'Em Who's Boss
誰がボスかをはっきりさせる
This one is probably less common than the others. This is for when you want to tell someone that you think they are the better than the person they're competing against.
これは多分以前のと比べてまれに使われています。これは相手がその競争相手より上手だと言いたい時のためです。
Situation: Before a Boxing Match
A: I think I can beat him.
負けさせれると思う。
B: Good. Go out and show 'em who's boss!

If someone is doing a good job, and you want to encourage them to keep doing a good job, you can say, "Keep it up."

A: I aced my test! Woo-hoo!

If someone has an idea for something difficult they want to do, for example starting a new business, going on an expensive trip, or having an amazing party, you might say "Make it happen." This phrase can make the listener feel they have the power to do anything.
誰かしたいことの難しいアイディア、たとえば新しい事業を始めること、高い旅行に行くこと、素晴らしいパーティーを行うことなどがあったら、「Make it happen」が言えます。このフレーズは聞き手に何でもできる力がある気分にさせられます。
Situation: A Dream Trip
