Plants helping eachother and Ninkasi from The Wild Beer Co

in #gardening7 years ago

I have a couple of Green Zebra Tomatoes growing in my greenhouse. One of them is doing great, the other one... well I kinda left it for dead. I did not tie it up like the other plants, it was too weak looking. It seems it had other plans and decided to grow just fine without me by getting the cucamelons to help.

Yep, this plant is being held up only by cucamelon vines, 3 separate support points.

Now to the Ninkasi! I was really excited to try this. Sounds like a pretty fancy beer.

Now that white stuff around the top isn't wax, just some plastic made to imitate it; the bottle is easy to open despite that.

Why do I say it is fancy? ... straight from the back label "Named after the ancient Greek goddess of beer, this is an equally divine Belgian-style saison with a copious amount of New Zealand hops, freshly harvested Somerset apple juice and wild yeast added to the mix. However, we like to take things just that bit further (it’s the Wild way!) — once bottled the beer undergoes a secondary fermentation with champagne yeast, giving it a brisk spritziness on the tongue."

It pours straw yellow with a generous head that sadly disappears quite quickly leaving a long lasting ring on the edges.

You get a whiff of hops, some citrus and then a champagne aroma hits you.
When it comes to taste, let's put it this way: a beer and a champagne had a baby and they called it Ninkasi. Light malt start, followed by a slight sour apples flavour finishing on a dry champagne like note. Sparkly.

I'm pretty sure this is the beer that would bring @thewineman over to the dark side.

In the end, I think this is a really interesting beer, that at 9% is quite dangerous, you don't really taste it's strength but it will creep up on you, heh.

Cheers guys

The beer has a beautiful color, it looks delicious. Cin cin :)

Thank you!
It's the best/most interesting beer I had in the last couple of months.
Cheers!
