Sunny Day Go Away! I'll Take Gray Any Day.
I am going to tell you something about myself that most people think is strange; I dislike sunny weather.
It can feel nice to have the warmth of the sun during the cold days of winter, but even then some gray feels good. Outside of winter, I prefer it be cloudy and gray every day.
I hate hot weather, therefore I am thankful for any cloudy day in summer. Four months of sunny, hot, and oppressively humid weather puts me into a seasonal depression. I experience less energy and motivation, and generally feel less optimistic.
My wife is the opposite and loves an unobstructed sunny sky and summer warmth. She tells me I am the weirdest person she knows because I anxiously wait all year for the first blustery, gray days in the 50 degree range. I love late fall and winter when it gets dark at 5 o'clock.
I discovered just a month ago that I have a friend who feels exactly like I do. I have known him for sixteen years and just realized we are alike in regard to weather preference. He worded it brilliantly when he said, “Cold weather is cozy.” An oxymoron, I suppose. How can cold feel cozy? It’s because the chilly, gray weather makes us appreciate certain things, such as a warm hooded jacket, a campfire, a bowl of hot soup, and a warm house.
I have always been different, never quite fitting in with the world. What's awesome is that I feel at home here on Steemit. I am in good company. We are a diverse group with many opinions, talents, and gifts that set us apart from the majority of people, who only live life at the surface, never digging down to find true purpose.
Thank you for reading! I try my hardest to pour out my true feelings into my posts. I hold nothing back, and believe in honesty and genuineness.
Photo: An overcast day at Red Haw State Park near Chariton, IA. I was driving through the area and took some time beside the lake to read, rest, and be inspired.

that's a great lake shot
Thank you! The gray sky does diminish the color of the leaves. It was a very peaceful place to be, though. I'm glad I had a good book with me.
Feels exactly the same. Unfortunatly the rest of the population seems to need some light and here it gets dark at 4 o'clock.
I don't quite understand why so many people like the heat and sun. They must like sweating and getting sunburn.
I am with you about the clouds versus the sun. That's one reason I like living in the Pacific Northwest. But when I lived in Michigan, I was surprised how cloudy they are in the fall and winter, as long as the lakes haven't frozen over. One November, we only got 2% of the possible sunshine hours. It was great, lol! Enjoy a bleak winter, lol!
That's awesome! What does that say about our personalities? I have heard people claim sunshine is healthy for the soul and helps prevent depression. I think that's nonsense.
I think cloudy days let us enjoy the day!
I sure agree!
Of course the sun is good for you (even if you don't believe it), but alot of people like it cloudy sure.
Now go and read a bit about geoengineering and ask yourself how does it affect our daily lives and biology (just by blocking the sun, nevermind the chemicals). How it has been around for decades and conditioned us to live like this..
I should state that I am thankful for the sun. After all, life could not exist without it. I don't want to sound like I am complaining. We need the sun.
