CrowbarMama Rants & Raves - Customer Service
Hey guys! So, it's been a few years since I've been in the workforce, but I'm noticing an alarming trend in the level of customer service in many local businesses. I don't know if it's just that I'm getting older, but I am so disappointed by the lack of effort put forth by some employees. When I was in customer service, I was taught to answer any questions honestly and to the best of my ability, but to make an effort to get the correct information to the customer, even if this meant getting a name and number so they could be reached at a later time. Now it seems many employees don't want to take the time.
However, there are exceptions and when I come across them, I love to share my good experiences with as many people as possible. Did you know that people are 12 times more likely to complain to a superior rather than leave a positive comment about a good employee? I think it's important that employers hear what their employees are doing right so that they can encourage and foster that type of work ethic.
Are there any businesses you love to support because of how well they treat their customers? Please share below!

Great post, I agree with you completely. Sometimes I think people just don't care. If they cared a little it would make a world of difference.
@dalipops I think you're right, that many don't care, but I wonder why that is. Has social media just rotted out their brains to where they only care about people on the screen and not those that are face to face with them? I don't know...
I suspect there is a combination of factors. Media, the education system, and the breakdown of social structures like church and family have all had various levels of effects on everyone.

do you think it is an issue of incentives, so the employees get no benefits for helping you?
Or it is an cultural issue with kids growing up with all the rap stars who dont care much what other people want, so you dont have to care and just smoke weed all day?
@felix.herrmann All good points. I think back to my first jobs at 14, 15 & 16 years of age and it was always in my nature to help people to the best of my ability. I've always been one to ask many questions, while many are embarrassed to ask questions or to admit they don't know something.
On the other hand, I do believe you're on to something with the rap stars concept, but it goes further than that. It's cool to speak in an uneducated way. Take for example most popular songs and try to find proper grammar. I speak in a grammatically correct manner, but when I write music it seems I have to purposely use bad grammar, or the song doesn't sound right. Yet another reason why I limit screen time in my house. There is much out there that my children don't need to be exposed to yet. Thanks for stopping by!
We don’t eat fast food, but if we do I die trying to find a Chick-fil-A. They have amazing customer service! I feel the same way. The lack of care or concern is disturbing.
@thefarmerswife I've never eaten at a Chick-fil-A. There aren't many in California - at least there weren't any where I grew up and I haven't seen any in N. Idaho or Spokane so far. However, with my daughter's allergies we probably couldn't go there anyway.
One of my teen jobs was for In-n-Out Burger in California and they are known for their customer service. They pay significantly higher than minimum wage and it shows because their employees are well cared for and love their jobs. In 25 years, I've never had poor service at an In-n-Out!
great & impressive
