COCA COLA AND PEPSI THE MYTHS. IS ONE BACKED BY MUSLIMS?

I have heard this numerous times why religion has fueled the fire between these two global giants. Coca Cola has more history behind it as was invented in a drug store in 1886 by John Pemberton. The owner of the store was Jewish Joseph Jacobs. Mr Jacobs owned a third of the rights. He did sell so it wasn't a Jewish drink as such.
I thought it was because Coca cola was seen as American so that is why Muslims shunned it. It doesn't seem the case but why are their these rumors? Up until 1990 their was a trade embargo on American products to the Middle East .This included Coca Cola. Pepsi was dominant in this region and most likely is where the rumor started. Coca Cola has clawed back a third of the market share since then. How they did it is a massive oversight by Pepsi. Pepsi had the attitude of take it or leave it. They had no opposition for over 30 years and Coke came in and offered free coolers for all the shops that stocked their product. this was unheard of and was a hit overnight.
There will always be a fierce rivalry between the 2 drinks giants but thank fully it is not a religious one which some still think.
