Why I'm Voting For @JerryBanfield's Witness
I stay out of politics as much as possible but I'm making an exception today. I'm interrupting my series on SMTs to talk about Jerry Banfield's witness campaign.

Jerry Banfield's Promise
My job from Monday to Friday is as an advertiser and maybe that's the reason why I feel compelled to vote for his witness. Even thou he looks like he is on amphetamine when he does his videos, the guy know what he is doing to drive clicks and signups into steemit. He is a genuine and honest guy.
His promise, as a witness, is to dedicate 80% of his witness rewards towards Facebook and Adwords advertising to drive clicks and signups.
At current market price, that's about $200/day or $6000/month in advertising.

We have 20 witness slots. Some people work hard to develop tools for steem but from some...we haven't heard a cricket sound from them in a long while. Witnesses are suppose to work for us and add value to the network...not $7000+ a month for running a server
But I Don't Like His "Style"
Whether or not you like his "style" of advertising, is beside the point in my opinion. If it works and drive signups, it's a thousand time better than an ad that look slick yet doesn't convert.
We see it all the time when business owners want their dog in their ads. It sure make him feel good about his ads but generally those ads have horrific performance.
It's a personal pet peeve of mine. People having opinions about advertising when they:
- Don't account for results
- When they never ran a successful ad campaign themselves
Why His Ads Are Performing Well
What sets his ads apart from most ads is that they are content and personality driven. He is not "representing" steemit in an official capacity. He is in fact a "third party" sharing his opinion and experience. And THAT is very powerful and that's why his ads are performing well.
The Result I'm Looking For
Unfortunately, Jerry didn't know about the referral tracking until recently. But now that he does, he will track campaign for signup results. For now, I'm looking for a cost of $1 per signups. When the next hardfork comes in, I hope for a $0.20 per signup.
As the price of steem grows, we can capitalize by having someone running ads to capitalize on the attention that is already directed towards us. Without that, we are at the mercy of people willing to write about us on website like coindesk and cointelegraph.

Go ahead and vote for him here: https://steemit.com/~witnesses . From now on, I'll be campaigning for him to make it to one of the top slots because we need a dedicated witness to advertise STEEM to the whole world.

@jerrybanfield This man is a Facebook whale: @thedonfreeman. He has millions of followers. He states in the LFN (Looking for a Niche) Discord trail that he is open to partnering with people. Your FB followers and the Don's combined might generate a tidal wave of interest. I spotted his message a few weeks back so things might have changed - apologies if I've got anything wrong here but that could be a mega boost for steemit......check it out.
I agree with your view on this. I also voted for him as witness due to the strong community he is building up and bringing to the platform with his marketing efforts and his activity surpasses that of many!
Using the witness rewards for marketing efforts is also awesome and in the future I can see more witnesses promising a share of their rewards for other stuff, especially with a price increase.
I also remember when Lisk started up - reward sharing of "delegators" back then was very common from the beginning.

Hello mate! If I am on Steemit today it is thanks to @jerrybanfield! I found his ad on facebook in mid june and that's how I came here.
I will always be grateful to him for that, but in the beginning i was supporting him everyday but you know he was never replying back to any message on his posts. But I noticed this has changed now which is great. For sure he will get my vote.

I voted for Jerry with one of the first witness votes I had ever cast. He’s an excellent promoter and promotion is going to be vital to the success of this platform in the future. He’s truly engaged with the community and it’s amazing how he’s replied to so many of my comments on his posts even though he literally get hundreds of replies every day.
It’s a full time job for him and it’s nice seeing people with that level of dedication to this platform. I wish I had more time to contribute here but that’s not a luxury I currently have so I’ll do what I can by using my witness votes wisely.
I also have a few of my witnesses on auto vote (Jerry is one of them). I don’t use this function for many people but I think it’s a good use of my vote to reward their hard and tireless work here.
I totally agree, @jerrybanfield knows marketing. He was my first witness vote and helping bring the masses to steemit. Also he was the reason why I can to steemit :)

Agreed, and I have voted already. Signups are critical to Steemit's adoption, and Jerry has made the most unselfish pledge of any witness, regarding the rewards, that I am aware of. He's also the reason I know about Steemit, purely by happenstance on Youtube.
