How beer can be beneficial for your health

in #beer6 years ago (edited)

Beer is a mixture of 4 ingredients : Barley, water, hops and yeast. Beer is converted into alcohol and CO2 by extracting the sugars from grains with the help of using barley.

  1. Malting -

The process of brewing is done with grains such as wheat, rye or other such things. but usually with barley. This process involves harvesting and processing with the process of heating and ultimately drying out and cracking. The goal of malting is to isolate the enzymes needed for brewing to move on the next step.

  1. Mashing

These grains go through a process of mashing in which they are boiled for an hour. This process starts breaking down the enzymes in the grains forming sugar, this sticky element formed is called wort which acts as a raw material or an unmade beer.

  1. Boiling

The wort which is formed by after process of malting is boiled for about an hour while other spices such as Cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves are added to beer. Then Hops, green cone-like fruit of a vine plant is added to provide some bitterness to the beer with balancing sugar and providing flavor. Hops also act as natural preservative for beer.

  1. Fermentation

For one hour wort is cooled, strained and filtered. This wort is now putted in the fermenting vessel and yeast is added to it. At this stage , the process of brewing is completed and the fermentation begins. Beer is now stored for two weeks at room temperature an in case of larger it is stored for many weeks in cold tempreture.

  1. Bottling or Aging

After waiting for weeks you got an alcoholic beer, however it's still flat and uncarbonated. The process of carbonating may be like soda (artificial) or naturally carbonate via yeast which produces CO2. Now enjoy your delicious drink.

I like a cold beer every once in awhile, like any red blooded, fun-loving guy, but it's never been my go-to alcoholic beverage - all because of the carbs in beer. And a guy that regularly drinks beer WILL get a beer belly.

But that's only the start of it. For once one has a beer belly, the fat that accumulated to make the beer belly is almost impossible to get rid of. And the other thing about drinking beer, is that you gotta piss every 20 minutes or so. For these reasons, at a party I generally drink tequila, rum or vodka, in that order of preference, while at home, I like to have a glass of red wine, merlot being my fav, followed by pinot noir in 2nd place.

As far as health benefits go for alcohol consumption, red wine is tops from what I've read. And really, any alcoholic beverage can have healthful benefits, with moderate consumption. Beer belly isn't healthy in any case, however.

many thanks for the information. do love my beers and its the perfect weather to enjoy awesome beers
