Dear Diary: It Is My Dialysis Today In A Few Hours

Relief once gain after I get hooked up and the dialysis machine begins to clean my blood and remove extra fluids from my body. It is one of the best feelings a dialysis patient can experience minus the little pain caused by pricking the skin with two big needles that is used to draw blood out and then pumping it in to what we cal an arterio-venous fistula where they graft your superficial vein next to the artery.

What I am excited about was the clean feeling that dialysis gives me. I will likened it to a fasting in three days with only water drinking. But of course it is more divine feel when you are normal and you did fast for a while, the intensity of foods for you gets also higher, the food taste better and you enjoy it like a toddler given with ice cream.

I cannot fast, it will just make me feel sick as my body will use my muscles (if there any left) to make its own energy source. So it will in effect as I am eating meat which gives me more toxins than if I would solely eat plant based products.

I also cannot eat plant-based products because they will give me a potassium overload as well as high blood uric acid levels when I eat a protein-rich plant food. So it is recommended for me to eat a combination of such foods.

It is hard for me to eat a normal amount of food so I am not fulfilling my daily caloric intake requirement. If only I can do without eating because it is also a stressful situation when I would eat and it causes me health problems along with its good benefits. So I will just eat whenever I am hungry while taking care that I am well-nourished when I do so that I could at least maintain or hold my health so that I won't get any sicker.
