My father had been really coughing lately. It started Sunday here and he said that he is not feeling well and that he might get a fever and he did. My mother just gave him some fever medicine and something for the cough but his body just is not improving so my mother decided to sent him to the doctor so he can get the appropriate medicines for his cough and fever.

I suspect that he has some respiratory infection and not a flu because of his cough. My father had this coughing as far back as about more than ten years ago when he wants to ge back abroad to work as I am already a dialysis patient in those days and we just needed some funding hopefully for a transplant but his chest x-ray revealed "smoke" in his lungs, meaning that he dropped the medical test for the job abroad so he wasn't able to work abroad.

He has this short cough all these years especially when eating as he chokes everytime he eats. I don't know if he is just reacting to his food because each time he gets a spoonful of food, he has to dip to the fish sauce. His actually fond of eating with a fish sauce dip that it affected already his blood pressure where before he had a good and ideal blood pressure but now he has to take antihypertensives for it.

If he has either a flu or a respiratory disorder I think it can be handled by the doctor. Now that they had gone to the hospital he will get the necessary prescription and of course the correct diagnosis for his fever with cough. He is not complaining about body aches and pains associated with a flu so I think it could be about his upper respiratory tract problem. Nonetheless I am not so worried tho.

Update: His Blood taken and tests revealed a low blood platelet count, He will be confined tomorrow for a Dengue Fever. So I was wrong about my suspicion about his cough with fever
