Strange land
I watched them burn, yes, I watched as they cried. I Heard their pain but to me it was just a story. So what! If their lives are hard? All that matters is that I'm here! So what! If it's my fault that they are poor? I'm stronger so I will place the blame on them.. Oh yes! In this strange land, this is how leaders think!!!!!!! Men who deemed themselves gods, with no sense of justice or shame!
I'm high on codeine, lost in marijuana. A boy in a jungle of men. "Oh! Look up that's my green light." From underneath my mother's sweat I can strive to be a doctor. Thanks to the canoe she paddles on sea to go plant cassava, I can afford to dream. With the peanuts that falls from the king's table, and the left over dad brings home, I dared to dream such. "Yes! I will be a doctor." Thus, with a high spirit, I quenched and crushed the smelling flames of cannabis. I hung my machet and axe and chose to face my books. But hey! How dare I dream?
Did I forget for a minute, that this is a strange land?
A land where salaries are drastically cut short, but fees are immensely increased.
A land where wages are not paid for as long as the king deem fit, but fees payment are given deadlines.
Hahahahaha...... A land where the youths are asked to drop arms but are continuously frustrated.
A land where the youths are tagged docile, but are beaten down when they choose to rise.
A land where a man's soul and conscience has a price, and his life is worth a penny.
A land where many are nothing but keyboard warriors.
A land where rising for the truth is deemed to be foolish, a total waste of time. A lost cause before it even begins.
A land where the child of a poor man, is only fully given the chance to become a thug and a whore. Every other thing is each day taken far away from his reach.
A land where the gods are dead, and it seems even God Is slowly getting unattached from this strange land.
A land where what I bleed for, is wrongly plentiful in the pocket of a few so called 'tough men'.
A land where people bath in tears. And swim in their own sweat.
Sadly, in this strange land by no fault of mine I was born.....
And in a stranger land, ignorantly I went to school. ....
