Why are the graphics in Mario Bros timeless and those in GTA San Andreas aging?

There are retro video games that the passing of the years does not affect in the least and others, more current and with infinitely superior graphics, accuse time in a more remarkable way. Why do retro graphics hold up so well over the years?

We are CultureGeek and here we present an article from "Why are the graphics in Mario Bros timeless and those in GTA San Andreas aging"

We were all amazed by the polygonal graphics of the first Tomb Raider or the legendary Super Mario 64 and years later ... we were almost horrified. We were all amazed by the technical power of the first God of War on PS2, Halo: Combat Evolved on Xbox or the great Shadow of the Colossus and now…. well, they're not bad, they still look good! But even titans like Uncharted: Drake's Fortune on PS3 or Gears of War on Xbox 360 have markedly marked the passage of time, while classic works from the times of Super Nintendo or Megadrive almost retain their charm intact; as if the retro style did not affect him in the least the passing of the years. Why does this happen? Why do Metal Slug graphics still amaze us more than 20 years after its release, and instead the first Assassin's Creed has lost its ability to amaze?

The three-dimensional graphics of that time are the ones that have accused the most the passage of time compared to a pixel art style that lasts generation after generation; that even today is still capable of surprising us. So the answer is clear

One of the main reasons why these classic video games keep their charm intact is due to the passion with which they were designed; to that care and attention to detail that led a few geniuses in the video game industry to squeeze the most of the existing hardware ... and if not, invent what was necessary in order to make us feel inside those pixelated worlds that even today, so many years later, they continue to amaze us. The quality of Aladdin's animations on Megadrive, the frenzy of Metal Slug battles, the graphic bestiality that Rare achieved with his Killer Instinct or the magic that Yoshi's Island gives off from Super Nintendo. There are a thousand and one different examples of games that pass the years, they continue to look great; continue to dazzle us like the first day.
