We start off today's Author Showcase with the Forest Dragon from artist @goodnode. This post is so much more than just art though. @goodnode raises the post to a new level by creating an entire backstory for their creature. Including details like how the flightless creature protects itself as written in this excerpt from the post -

When cornered, they have been witnessed to defend themselves by emitting hallucinogenic fumes through tiny holes in their horns, accompanied by a low-key, melodious whistling sound, created by the passage of said gas through the horns' length.

A Day With A Lineman #26 ~Wheat Harvest Put on Hold

Next up we have a rather unique author. @jlsplatts is a power lineman in Washington state. When there is a problem and thousands upon thousands of people lose their power for one reason or another, he is one of the guys that goes out and repairs the damage to get the power back on to many individuals.

This is certainly a perspective I had never heard before finding them here on the Steem Blockchain. For this post he shares the story of a wheat farmer who lost a duel with a power pole, but luckily wasn't hurt. He takes us through the process of what goes into repairing a pole such as this when the public accidentally damages it.

We now move from the powerlines of Washington to a photographic journey through the National Parks of Utah. @crazy-andy captured so many amazing photos from their 270 mile journey for that day their travel adventure.

On the left is one of my favorite photos from the post. It is from a campground they stopped at along the way. I love how the unique looking trees sort of frame the building in the photo.

This is one of those posts where I just have to let @crazy-andy's photos and the awesomeness of nature itself speak for themselves.

@veryspider always produces amazing art here on the platform. This time around she delves into the realm of sci-fi and perhaps a bit of horror for this piece. She also includes a great process video showing everything that went into creating it.

i guess after receiving all the feedback and comments, i guess i would like to say that the thing i love about sci-fi or cyberpunk themes are like... the concepts it challenges us to contemplate about. like, i have been reflecting how scifi uses symbols and elements to tell stories with. like, like, uh.... i have been starting to think about how much more 'disposable' we would be, if we have the ability to discard our bodies and / or body parts easily. Anyway, yeah! I think there are rooms for thoughts in certain themes that I had not explored before!!! - @veryspider

Closing out today's Author Showcase we have a genre that I feel doesn't get a lot of attention on the Steem Blockchain, erotic fiction. Please note before clicking through to the story that the Reader Discretion Advised warning is serious. If you do not wish to read an adult themed story which does involve sex than please do not visit this post.

However, if you are a fan of talented fiction author's then please do go read @eroticabian's story. They are one of the best erotica themed author's I have seen on the platform. They write everything from the perfectly "clean" romance novel type stories to some graphic and hardcore erotica as they explain in this comment they shared with us. -

I’ve been writing on and off for years, since I was in elementary school! I remember writing stories even back then. In middle school I actually wrote a “novel” in a notebook that in hindsight was a bit out of the range of ‘appropriate reading material’ for a 13 year old. My teacher read it and actually gave me a certificate for writing my ‘first book’ and I think I was addicted right then.
I love writing in various genres, but romance and erotica are the ones that have ‘stuck’ lately. I write everything from hardcore-explicit to more vanilla-romance-happily-ever-after. I enjoy writing both kinds of stories depending on my mood at any given point! Blogging (and especially the Freewrite community) has really helped inspire me rekindle a life long dream of writing as a career. I am working towards self publishing a few books over the next few months and that is an incredibly exciting and nerve wracking adventure in and of itself, so for the next while I will be writing about that process as well!
