Daily Nature Fix: Alien Landscapes - Yellowstone. (Original Photos)

  Hi nature fans.  Tonight's Daily Nature Fix is going to be another clump of alien landscape from Yellowstone.  There were many times while I was in the park that I felt like we were looking at something from a Martian world.  Stuff like this:

   This is a part of the awesome Mammoth Hot Spring, which all of tonights photos are going to be from.  Years and years of calcium and mineral rich waters from the spring have made these deposits.  My wife and I do a pretty decent amount of traveling and we have never seen a place like Yellowstone, or Mammoth for that matter. 

   One of the coolest things is the layers of water covered shelves that the spring creates. It's like a serious of little infinity pools, as water naturally finds it's own level.  Time and nature can sure make some incredible things, huh?

  The lumpy, bumpy side of the spring, like this, were so crazy looking.  If someone saw that first photo with no reference, it'd be hard for them to say what they were looking at.  A lot of the spring had these structures, but where pure white as the spring stopped flowing over them and the sun bleached them.  The areas that were orange still had a thin layer of water flowing over them.

  Some areas have a decent water flow.  In the photo above, you can see a small stream rolling down thru the photo on a diagonal.  This stream was filling all of those infinity pools.
