UNTH FIRST RENAL (KIDNEY) TRANSPLANT COMMENCES

It's of no doubt that University of Nigeria Teaching hospital is the largest teaching hospital in Nigeria.
It still retains it's title as the best cardiology center where heart transplant is done at a reduced cost.
Of recent, it published a memo as regards her commencement of renal (kidney) transplant centre in Nigeria.

Kidney disease is a devastating disease that usually results to death since the kidney does not have the potential capability to regenerate it's nephrons and damaged cells caused by various factors like infection with viruses, bacteria etc. Most kidney diseases are usually end stage diseases i.e they usually do not have cure and often lead to death, the only option is usually to replace the kidney.
With this I believe it will really reduce the rate of mortality often attributed to kidney diseases.
This is really a welcomed development and will go a long way to strengthen the health sector of the economy.
Kudos to the administration, I must say it is really a call to serve humanity and I am proud to be a medic.
