10 Steem Givaway - My Favorite Christmas Present of All-time, What's yours?

in #contest7 years ago (edited)

Okay, so this was an original post by the great @goldenarms You can check it out Here
I thought that this would make a great hashtag as I would love to read and reminisce about all the great toys and gifts that came out when we were kids. @goldenarms choose Otimus Prime. This was an awsome chioce. I loved transformers when I was a kid. I watched the original cartoon every week. I had the Optims Prime toy but I really wanted Bumble Bee but never did get him.
So lets hear what you best gift was and use the hashtag #bestgift

I will 100% upvote, resteem and give out 10 Steem for the gift that I like the best!

So what was my favourtie gift?

Without a doubt it was the Lego Pirate Ship!

This ship was released in 1989. I would have bee 11 at the time but I still remember it as clear as yesterday. I was a big Lego geek but mostly only had little sets. I had a few and the knights and castle kits as well as a few robin hood type sets. Every time we went to Toys R us (which was huge back in the day) I would drag my parents over and show them the pirate ship. I was one of four children so big expensive gifts were not something we got very often. I remember being dissapointed on Christmas morning when I didnt get the set. I think my big gift from my parents was some hockey equipment or something. I love how they used Christmas as I chance to give me something that they had to buy me anyway and pretend it was a gift. Like I was dreaming about a new pair of shin pads.

After Christmas morning at our house, we always went with my mom to my grandparents place for lunch and some more gifts. My gift was just a small box under the tree. I opened it up and it was a letter inside. It send me on a little scavenger hunt with the final destination being the bathroom shower. I pulled back the curtain and let out a scream like a 5 year old. It was the pirate ship. I couldn't believe it.
I played with that thing forever. In fact I still have it. My son and I downloaded the instructions off of the internet and were able to put most of it together. We had to substitute some of the pieces with other Lego sizes or colours. But it was great. Since then my son has actually started to get into lego as well. We mostly get Lego Star Wars and Lego City sets.
For Christmas this year he is getting two different Lego sets but the gift he really wants is a Goalie Stick for road hockey. Lets hope Santa can give him a good Christmas to remember.

So how about you?

Very nice! Thanks for entering.
Precursor to all of the drones that they have nowadays

Haha...you're right! I got one of the drones for Christmas this year. Too cold to try it out now tho 😐

Thanks for the entry... a little creeped out that you love FURY so much ha ha ha

Ok...well it offends me that you find my enthusiasm creepy and laughable.
I am trying not to take it personally...because that was probably not your intention.

It was not.I just have a bad sense of humour.
Everyone has their own choice for a favourite gift.
I have never owned a FURBY but am sure they were great as many kids had them.
There are many creepier gifts, like a pet rock for example.... it was a real fad back in the day. Even the Hatchamils were pretty strange last year.

It sounds like you probably mis-worded it...but your first comment reads that you find my 'love of the furby' creepy...not the actual Furby itself. It's the difference between these that offended me. To be honest I wouldn't care what you thought of the toy itself since you are free to have your own opinion...however in the first comment you did not target your joke towards the toy...but towards my own opinion on it. Anyway you are right about the freakish and rather strange children's toys they have today...and in comparison many of the toys from the 80' and 90's seem a lot more normal.

Hope this counts? 😁

Happy Christmas to you and your loved ones!

Happy Christmas to everyone else as well, who's reading this!

I never got one of those for Christmas. My son Luke was born the day before Thanksgiving though.

His due date was December 29th, I was super hoping it was gonna be after Christmas, but nope, he couldn't wait to come out 😂

Oh sweet Thanksgiving baby!

This is great! I was looking for an excuse to share one of my childhood Christmas memories! Thanks for the encouragement!

Thanks for the entry. I love that you are trying to recreate it!

Little toys like that are all the rage now. Also the mystery toys. I dont get why you would pay for something you dont know. The do it for everything, little figures, hotwheels, lego guys... My son will get 3 and already have a double!

Cool idea man. I may have to get in on it!

Do it.
it is fun to see what people are fond of.
