Black Lives Matter Activist Arrested for Pimping Out Underage Girl.
Black Lives Matter Activist Charles Wade has been arrested and charged with sex trafficking. Cops say one thing and the suspect says another. Vice cops executed a sting operation where a 17 year old prostitute was arrested and questioned. According to police upon being questioned the 17 year old called Wade her manager. In addition the teen stated to police that Wade knew her real age, despite the fact that on Backpage the teen claimed to be 23 in the ad.
I will not judge this situation because I don't have enough facts or adequate perspective. I will simply state that activism is a dangerous profession and fighting for a cause often results in being martyred for it. There definitely are individuals out there on any side of a political spectrum who will troll or use underhanded tactics to take down the opposition.
At the same time not everyone is innocent. Trial by media on the other hand is not about guilt or innocence but is about mob justice and mob hysteria. Whether the activist in this particular case is innocent or guilty it is still worthy of studying the sociological circumstances. It is election season after all and we may see more arrests as arrests often take place during election season.
It should also be expected that #gamergate and #sjw will eventually find it's way onto Steemit. Will Steemit be able to handle difficult political situations? It may be a vulnerability for Steemit that Steemit at this moment in time is primarily US based, and at the moment not geographically diverse or sufficiently culturally diverse. Maybe this can be addressed in future interations of Steemit before election season really begins.
Final note, if prostitution were legal there would be in my opinion a greater ability to ensure safety for all sides. The fact that it is done in the shadows may indirectly be empowering traffickers who must operate in the shadows.
