THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD
There is a wonderful person who is the one who directs us in everything we do for God, he is the comforter, our helper, he is the person of the Holy Spirit of God. but, as you all ask, why do you call him a person? that's why I want to start by defining it.
Literally the Holy Spirit is represented as a dove, because at the moment of Jesus' baptism the word of God says in Luke 3:22 that the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove, and a voice came from heaven saying: You are my beloved Son; I have pleasure in you. The Holy Spirit is also known biblically as fire, which is a symbol of God's presence, but it can manifest itself in many ways. I can even talk about the fruit of the Holy Spirit in the believer, but I'll be talking about that in another study.
He tells us the word of God in John 14: 15-28 that Jesus preached to his disciples, he spoke to them at that time about obedience and love for the Father. Jesus himself, at that time told the disciples that he would ask the father to send them a comforter to accompany them always, it would be the Spirit of Truth. Later in the same chapter of John, Jesus speaks more to his disipulos about the Holy Spirit, and he says the following:
“All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. John 14:25-26.
A definition of the word consolador according to the dictionary is the following, Comforter: is defined as someone who comforts, mitigates, calms and relieves the one who is sad, afflicted, grief, sorrow, pain or a suffering of the person, this also helps improve the mood.
It is said then that the Holy Spirit has personality, because he has the quality of thinking, feeling and having his own will. The Holy Spirit thinks, has intellect, has a perfect mind, has perfect wisdom. 1 Corinthians 2: 10-11 tells us the following:
These are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
Then the Holy Spirit has his own way of thinking, he reveals himself and shows himself. It also examines our thoughts. The Holy Spirit feels, he can grieve for our bad attitudes, that is, he is sensitive. It can be said that without feelings there is no consolation. Let's read what Ephesians 4:30 says:
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealedfor the day of redemption.
The Holy Spirit has a will, he acts, decides and moves by his own will. He guided many biblical characters to perform actions to broaden the Kingdom of God and help others find the way to salvation. For example, the Holy Spirit gave the order to Philip to go to the desert and approach the car where the Eunuch was. Acts 8:29 and further ahead we read that the same Spirit snatched him from that place after having baptized the eunuch, Acts 8: 38-39. Just like this example, there are many in the Bible, where the Spirit orders and moves by its own will.
The scripture also says that everyone who receives Jesus as Lord and Savior also receives the Holy Spirit and that person becomes the temple and abode of the Spirit of God, this is what 1 Corinthians 3:16 says:
Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
The teacher Jesus also spoke to his disciples about the work of the Holy Spirit, and what was about to happen when he ascended to heaven, we can read this in John 16: 5-15:
but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things. But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
When a person lives and lives the Spirit of God, this can be said to be empowered to do specific activities, directed by the same Spirit, to expand the Kingdom of God and glorify it. The scripture speaks of being witnesses in all the places of the earth and just being a witness of someone is according to the dictionary being a person who is present in an act or an action, with or without intention to give testimony of what has happened.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
But in order to be an instrument of the Spirit of God and to be alive and more in us, we have to take into account the following principles:
In the first place we must be of Jesus, receive his salvation, be born again but of water and spirit, believe in his complete work from the baptism in the waters, his death and resurrection and be children of God.
Secondly, be obedient to God, to his word and his commandments, to our earthly leaders.
Thirdly, to seek holiness, in the same Holy Spirit, who convicts us of sin, but it is we who decide to sin or not. The scripture says that without Holiness no one will see the Lord and when we do not walk completely, approved by God, the Spirit of the Saint is grieved and moves away from us, because the Holy and does not bear the sin of humanity.
From each of the first principles I will be talking more thoroughly in other studies, to know more about this topic. There is also much that I can speak with a biblical basis about the wonderfulness of the Holy Spirit, but it is a farewell moment, but first I want to thank and bless the lives of the people who work in three accounts that have been used by God to carry his word. in this social network, @sirknight @steemchurch @biblicalstudies and the curators who support the publications with their votes, thanks for your support and may God Almighty bless you!
Very nice Daniel - looking forward to reading more.
