Thousands of aquatic wildlife in two Maryland rivers have died in recent days.
In southern Maryland thousands of fish and aquatic creatures have died in recent days. People have reported seeing fish, crabs, eels, skates, sea-rays, turtles, and other wild life have been washing up on the banks along Breton Bay, St. Clements Bay, and the Potomac River.

Taken at Newtowne Neck State Park by Kelly Christine.
Investigators are waiting for lab results. But as of now there is little to no 'official news' to find. SOMDWXNEWS a facebook based news company is the only source I can find for any information regarding this die off event.
According to the Southern Maryland news and weather page - "Over the last 24 hours, SOMDWXNEWS has been contacted by followers about water species washing up on shore dead in SOMD. They include dead turtles, fish, crabs, and sting-rays. Two locations where these species are being found include Drum Point Beach in Calvert County where multiple fish were found dead, and then at Newtowne Neck State Park where just today multiple species of fish, crabs, sting rays and turtles were found dead."
They said that they contacted the Maryland Department Natural Resource Police and are awaiting for an answer back.
That the local park rangers are aware of this the situation and are investigating. They also said that they spoke with a person at Point Lookout State Park to see if they were aware of any issues and they got hung up on.
Many online are speculating that the Aquatic die off were caused by tons of rain falling during spring at a time when 10s of thousands of acres of farm fields near by are being covered with herbicides, and the combination of the massive rain combined with the chemicals from local agriculture depleted the oxygen levels in the water and that is what killed all the sea creatures. Janet Whalen a local resident said "All these animals are in breeding season and close to the Shoreline and with all this rain it's probably lack of oxygen due to muckey waters"

Location of the mass wild life die off.
Jennifer Rose Weaver another local resident said that "The Most common cause of a fish kill is Oxygen depletion. In our bay and river most of the water is actually brackish. There are a lot of factors here. Every factor could be playing against itself. The rain itself, the rain causing excessive run off, chemicals of all kinds ( farmers may use natural fertilizers like manure compost and regular folks wash their vehicles with soap, oil spills at a gas station anything that can end up down our drains) , the reduction in the salinity in the water, etc etc.. lots of factors here." and that
"Pointing fingers at just one or two sorts of folks isn't fair. Everything we do and what nature does plays into the environment."
So far there has been no word from any 'officials or authorities' on the matter.
