How To Steemit 101: What Is Reputation Score And How To Raise It

in #steemeducation7 years ago (edited)

Hi steemit friends, the purpose of this post is to answer common questions newbies always ask. They've ask a lot, like in discord's channel or commenting in authors page. So, I will try my best to answer it as I personally interpret it. All opinions of other authors are welcome to comment down below.

It's been a while since my last post about "investing on Steem" in particular in helping our community. Today, we will discuss on how to raise your Steemit "Reputation Score".

As you guys notice, the red line represent your "Reputation score". It simply signifies how OLD you are hahahah JOKE! This numbers tells us that you are a profound author you are. It shows also how active you are in conversing to others, maintaining good quality posts and trustworthy source of information. Other authors, new and old will find you interesting with a good reputation score but when you get a "Negative" score it somehow says different story.

Did you know that the higher engagement you give in the community the more you raise your reputation? Here's are some tips how to raise your reputation and enable you to be one of the most achievers here in #Steemit.

Commenting

This is probably the most easiest and the most fastest way to raise your reputation score. However, be reminded that not just comment but a contextual comment. Meaning, "YOU NEED TO READ FIRST THE POST" before commenting into it.

I honestly saw commentators with "good post sir/ma'am, follow me and I follow you" or "thanks for the info, please visit mine". It is appreciative on the other hand that you "SOMEHOW" read the post and leave a comment BUT engage with conversational comment. Meaning, if you somehow relate to the topic/s share your experience, thoughts, feelings and disapproval. Make it like you are talking to a person just in front of you.

More Upvotes Also Raise Your Reputation Score

Yes, good and quality post indeed attract readers to upvote and also they leave comments (If they leave comments, please do reply) If you're not a writer but have a good sense of humor... post funny pictures or memes (don't forget to put the source link OK?!) If you are good at taking pictures then create a enticing food, animal, events, city, weather photos. Audience also love short stories, poems and facts. If you love to face camera, create a video of you everyday and post it to https://d.tube/ (@surpassinggoogle invite us to create a video here's the link)

Be creative as possible as you could be. There's no need to envy others who can write, who can sing, who has beautiful photos and those with sense of humor. BE YOU! As people see you as it is. Use you talent, your skills and let the world know who you are and what you can do.

With these tips, you may realize that, as a new author, we must engage well to create audience, followers and live as a community with interaction and respect to one another. This platform is a blessed with such generosity from the founder @Ned Scott and Dan Larimer and we must maintain the society clean and well-respected people of any race, gender, kind and beliefs.

Negative Reputation Score

This particular topic is very sensitive. We are entitled of what we post and how it give an impact to others too. "FLAGGING" is the term use here. It's an action of negative reaction of ones thought, post or sort of personal judgement. It is also "to some" a form of debate on how things they thought is right and wrong. It also a modern warfare here in #steemit. Cold war as I described it hahaha.

@steemcleaners also flag post who are found to be plagiarized (it means you just COPY it from other writers and PASTING it in your post) They will certainly flag your post.

Thank you for dropping by and I hope that this little contribution will convince you that investing here is not just plain game. You became PARTNERS with the founders, developers and most whales that contribute also here. Time is the only investment we have here and to remind you this platform is FREE. However, to make #steemit SUCCESSFULL?! WE NEED YOU! Your contribution to the society add-on's to the blood of the entire #steemit eco-system.

God bless you!

Thank you. I was looking into this couple of days ago but could not find anything suitable. Would you say, that commenting is most effective for gaining reputation?

Thanks that you found this interesting. Yes, it's one of the key factor in engaging audience to increase reputation plus "upvotes" and also I forgot to mention here investing in SP (Steem Power)

Don't worry about that. Investing in Steem Power directly is kinda the no-brainer solution. I was interested in leveraging more organic ways of enhancing reputation.

but still remember that this platform circulates in SP not just those mentioned above.

Thank you for these valuable info for newbies like me. Will take note on these things. 😀

you're most welcome @clairefabella. Bless you!

Well done @dante01. This is a very useful information.
I joined Steemit less than a month ago and mostly what I have done is comment on people's posts. However, I posted my first update few days ago (it's actually an entry in a contest) and I haven't gotten any upvotes on the post. How can I get more people to see my posts?

Thank you for dropping by @gbollyraj. As I visit your page, I don't see any post just resteemed one. The methods mention above will help you a lot. Investing in time is hard work. I manage my 1200 friends here for almost 3 months since last year and I started to gain value just last December 2017 (I'm active around October 2017)

Just keep doing what you have done. Engage always. Post everyday. Remember to put TAGS properly. You will succeed my friend. Bless you!

Oh, thanks man. You've been of great help

great post! In the beginning I had no clue what a rep score was! Do you know if it moves up higher if people with higher rep scores upvote your posts? I've always wondered that. Thanks!

Yes, that helps too.
Thanks for dropping by @mountainjewel
