Developing Master's Literacy Culture by Writing Books

Dear steemians. Today I want to share about master's literacy culture by writing books.

Indonesia is one of the countries with very low literacy index in the world. In terms of reading, Indonesia is ranked fifth from the bottom based on a survey conducted by the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2012. Especially if we talk about Aceh. Of course more concern again index literacy especially reading. This apprehensive condition should not continue to be left without any improvement efforts. Slowly but surely the rankings are on the rise.

The ratings and achievements of the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) Indonesia since 2015 increased by six places from 71 in 2012 to 64. This good news is certainly very encouraging for Indonesia. Moreover, Indonesia is among the top fours in the increase. Source

Book writing training activities for teachers

Despite the increase, but being in 64th position is not the real target. Indonesia should be in the top 10. Moreover Indonesia has a large population. This index of literacy should increase. In the PISA survey only measure students' literacy skills. So what about teacher literacy index? Apparently not much different. So it is not surprising that students have a worrisome index of literacy.

Given the teacher literacy index is also very alarming, then efforts to improve teacher literacy culture should be done. Many ways can be done to improve the culture of teacher literacy. One is to write a book. Departing from concerns about the low literacy of teachers, one of the teachers' organizations, the Indonesian Teachers Association (ITA) held a book writing activity to develop a teacher literacy culture. The activities undertaken are writing the workshop which themed one teacher one book. The purpose of this activity is for the participants, especially teachers have the competence to write the book.

The greatest hope of these activities is the birth of anthology books of the work of participants. Furthermore, they are expected to write at least one book by one teacher. But if possible they do not just stop writing a book. More than that is expected to continue to be born books of teachers without interruption. Thus, it is expected the teacher literacy index will increase. Increased teacher literacy index is expected to spread to students. If that happens, then the student literacy index will also increase. Increased index of student literacy will certainly bring a positive impact for Indonesia where the literacy index has increased as well.

In keeping with the set targets, the anthology book came true. The book of the Literacy Movement anthology on Pasee Region successfully printed completes with ISBN number. The book is a collection of articles by trainees writing books organized by ITA. In addition to anthology books, each participant also prepares the manuscript of the book personally to produce their own books. The books will continue to be born from the participants. Most of the teacher's personal books are in the process of editing and printing. Thus, there will be many books by teachers of the development of teacher literacy culture that will be circulated in the community.
