My diary game: My visit to the Northern market.

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are having a good day 😊

Today I will I will making a diary game as to my first visit to a Northern market. So stay close and read in between lines so you can get a clue of what life in the Northern Nigeria is all about.

I will start by saying that things are not really so cheap in the North and it would be out of place to say that the inflation didn't get so much to them but I was surprised at the price of things that I felt like going with the whole market or emptying the whole market in my house.

So the essence of this diary game is to put out some of the things that I bought in the market and the price at which I bought them and let you compare it with what is obtainable in your area as a Nigerian particularly

So some of the things that I bought were:

  • tomatoes
  • onions
  • garri
  • potato
  • meat
  • egg.

So I was given a plate of this tomato you are seeing in the picture above for the price of 200 naira and that is less than 1 steem coin so I ended up getting three of it at 500 naira which is about 1 steem coin

One thing I noticed about the people of the northern Nigeria is that apart from them having a fertile soil, they are very kind hearted people and they are not so big with prices. So the man I bought this tomatoes in question did not really have to drag the price with me and I loved that.

I also had to buy onions from the same man and the portion you can see in the picture above is about 500 naira which is also about 1 steem coin if I'm correct judging from today's exchange rate so I think it was very fair price unlike what I experience in the Western or Eastern part of Nigeria so I think I like the North because of how affordable life is over there.

So I went to the next shop to buy Garri and surprisingly they do not measure with the custard paint bucket like we have in the west and East. They have a different measurement which they call muda and for the Garri, I think I bought a muda for 2400 and they half muda is about 1,200 which is equivalent to 2.5 Steem coin

So I think this was the reason why I said earlier that things aren't so cheap in the North so I was really surprised because ordinarily, the custard paint bucket is bigger than the muda and the price is almost the same compared to the East or West.

Next I went for a crate of egg and for this I spent 3,500 naira for one create which is equivalent to7 steem coin.

I really cannot compare this to the price in the east or western part of Nigeria currently but I know or I think it's fairer in the North.

Again I went for potatoes and for every portion in the image above, I was giving for the price of 500 naira which is equivalent to **1 steem coin and this is so surprising because the portion was so big; maybe the picture was not doing Justice to it but it was really big. I loved it. So, I bought about two equivalent to 2 steem coins.

Finally I went to buy the meat; beef meat precisely and I got a kilo for 5,000 naira.

Oh my God😂
I did not expect that maybe because I overrated the North yeah so I had this mindset that there is or there should be a lot of meat in the North unlike in Lagos Nigeria or the Eastern part of the country. I was expecting to get a kilo of meat at 2,500 but it turned out it wasn't so, so yeah! I got 1 kilo.

So this is the end of my blog and I hope this gives you an insight on what the northern Nigeria is like. Maybe it's because of the state that I visited maybe things are different in some other parts but where I am currently this are the prices and what's I got them from the market

Thank you for reading ☺️
