Title: Images: Sourcing Properly & Beware Of Copyright Concerns

Where do you get your images for when making a post on steemit? Are they yours? If not, do you know how to properly source them to avoid copyright issues?

Your Own Images

Make sure to state where the image was taken, the date it was taken and if you have another blog, social media page or website and these pictures are posted on those other sites, always state this fact somewhere in your post on steemit. You can do it below the image or at the bottom of your post. Some people even go as far as putting their steemit username on the image in a non-conspicuous location (ie. the bottom corner of the image)

Using Other's Images

In this post by @mindover is where you can find images that are approved to use on steemit.

This post is a great place to find images to use. I personally use Pixabay and Pexels the most. I have used Google Images also; but if you do this, you have to make sure to use the images labeled as free to use.

To do this on Google images, you go to Google and search. Once you have the images on your screen, you want to click on “Advance Settings” and scroll down to “Usage Rights”; from there you only want to use and see the ones that are listed as “Free to use, share and modify”.

When using images from Pexels, Pixabay or any other image websites listed in the above post, all rights are free for use but you still need to source the image on your post.

Sourcing Images In Your Post

Somewhere in your post you need to give the “url” directly to the image; not just a vague link to the general website. Be specific with the url.

If you have an image on your post that is NOT your own, do not use the tag “photography” as steemcleaners is cracking down on the misuse of this tag.

If you have someone else make you a banner or signature banner, make sure to acknowledge their efforts with their name (ie. Badge made by Username). This will help get them recognized by other steemians as well as give them credit where credit it due.

Come back next week, when I discuss plagiarism, but until then, check out these steemit FAQs.
For a more detailed explanation about plagairism on steemit see this in the FAQs section.

Payable Pennies (Available to EVERYONE for TODAY ONLY)

*Anyone can play. Anyone can join in!

First, a Payable Penny is something that I am using to educate people about how the votes get paid. Its a $0.03 upvote on their entry in the game/contest and it guarantees them something for making an effort (because $0.019 or lower and there is no payment). It is a fun way to educate you and help you to learn/engage at the same time.

How To Get Your Payable Pennies TODAY ONLY On This Post

#1 Leave a comment to Dawne on this post. It must be a question directed at her asking for her help, or it must be a relevant observation to her topic of the day.
#2 If you leave a comment and Dawne responds, you can earn "bonus" Payable Pennies for a relevant additional comment to her. Note: that is (2) $0.03 Payable Pennies just by engaging Dawne and following up respectfully with her replies!
#3 Resteem this post and tell me about it in the comment section and I will give you more Payable Pennies for that! You must leave a comment to me (@davemccoy) so that @goldendawne only focuses on her discussions.
