The fact that they're earning not so much is enough reason for them to keep their money, buy well it's quite a honourable gesture from them and it's remarkable if they feel this tips can go a long way then, I'll like to see how the Bernie Sanders campaign really turns out to be. Way to go from the waitstaffs
@davidpakman, Politics is like Dice Game where we think that everything is plain but in reality various back door game plan and surprising probabilities come into the existence.
I hear ya, I can see Bernie, a millionaire, flying around on private jets polluting the atmosphere he wants all them to pay to clean up while eating some Russian Borsch, sipping Russian Vodka while cheering on his little Russian Dumpling's for their contribution.
That's all good in itself but it's illegal. In Minnesota an employer can't withhold an employee's tips for any reason at all. Period. All tips must be paid to the employee. Once the employee has had taxes taken out and it is given to them via their paycheck the employee can do whatever they want with it. Just remind them there is campaign contribution limits.
Also for your information, if an employee does not make the standard min. wage per hour in tips the employer has to make that amount up. Just to make this simple, if a restaurant wage is 2.50 an hour but the standard min. wage is ten dollars an hour and the employee doesn't make enough in tips to make up the difference between 2.50 and 10.00 the employer has to kick in the difference.
May be thats bail money for known Pedophiles and Rapists awaiting release. They did their part well, now its time to pay them and clean the slate for fresh new start.
