My Diary: How i spent my week as a teacher
Hello steem kids&Parents! winks
It's finally weekend and time to rest from school activities as a teacher. Smiles.. like seriously, impacting knowledge is not an easy task especially with the young ones.
It's few days to a month since we've resumed to school and welcoming the newly admitted students and It's so exciting and exhausting at the same time.
Every week is always a time to look forward to as to the 3 different kinds of students one will be meeting in class like;
• Those who have spent their weekends playing only to resume back with nothing
• Some who can partially remember the works done the previous week by asking questions of "Miss,sebi is like this"(Miss, is it like this) lol.. it can be so annoying! And,
• Those who are still intact with the works done.
Many atimes while writing their class assessment, most of them are being carried away as to who's using the most beautiful pencil, who's not writing so well, who's standing and talking and like seriously, i find myself screaming sometimes lol... there's one of my kids who's name is John. John can be so audacious, playful, funny, troublesome and kind at the same time. Kai! I just love him despite is troubles, smiles....
Every morning, I resume by 7:30am,
Observe the staff's morning prayers,
Resume to the school gate to welcome in the students as their parents drop them off until the assembly is over by 8:45am,
Get to my class by greeting my students, asking them of their previous day and night and by 9am, school activities start fully firstly with;
• Morning Recitations, Rhymes and General knowledge
• Numbers reading and identification then, writing on their own. This takes atleast 1hr 30mins cause some of them needs full attention so as to write fast else, they can exhaust the whole day writing.
• Brunch/Lunch time 11am-12pm and that also exceed the time because even after reciting their table manners, you'll still see them chit-chat with their friends while eating.
• Reading and identification of letters and writing and then,
• Snacks time, then we close by 2pm. Extra lesson from 2-3pm, 3-4pm and at the end of it all, we have parents who comes late to pick their kids.
So at the end of it all, teachers are to wait behind until all your class students are gone and i sign out most times past 5pm. Imagine, we closed 1pm today which is Friday and two of my parents are yet to pick their children by past 3pm , no wonder teachers are not chubby in Nigeria lol.. God have mercy on us.
Being a teacher is a call, ministry and training. There's always this joy that know no bound when you're with them and the displeasure in action when they are wrong.
I celebrate all my co-teachers and parents here.
Much love ❤ and happy weekend
