Cooking a pot roast in a crock pot

in #recipe7 years ago (edited)

Cooking pot roast is easier than you think. It really doesn't take much effort and if started right, it is almost impossible to mess up. Not a quick video, but it shows everything I did to set it up and maintain the roast up to pulling it out of the crock pot.

Ingredients

Instructions

Brown roast on all sides. The side with the fat will be hot, so be careful when browning. Place roast in crock pot and add slow cooker sauce. Add half of potatoes, onions and carrots on top of roast. Cover and cook on high heat for 6-8 hours. Every one to two hours, ladle the juice on top of the roast to keep it moist. At 2 hours before serving, add the rest of the potatoes, onion, carrots, celery and mushrooms.

If everything is done right, the outside of the roast will be cooked, but it the inside will be tender and fall apart easily.

Love the Montreal steak seasoning! Great stuff for steaks, I'll have to give it a try on my pot roasts. The crock pot makes cooking so easy. I use my crock pot all the time.

I use Montreal Steak seasoning pretty much anytime I have beef to cook or grill.

I feel like your revealing my secret! I love crockpot receipes for this exact reason tender juicy and full of flavor! Thanks for the post!

It is almost too easy, but seems like it would be much harder.

My wife has been crock pot cooking for years. It sometimes takes all day but man, it's so good to eat with a fork and no knife! :)

Slow cooking is hard... because you can smell it all day, but can't eat it.

Yummy. Awesome. Thanks for sharing. Upvoted. Resteemed.
