My town in 10 pictures.
Hello team Uganda!
I'm so grateful for this opportunity i have to participate in this contest.
I come from jinja. I say it with a lot of pride because it is such a beautiful city. Jinja is in the eastern part of uganda and it is one of the tourist destinations of the country. Many people leave the capital to visit jinja and have fun, yet i get to spend my days in that wonderful town.
There are so many activities and places that i would love to share but since we are limited to original pictures and yet am currently in kampala, let me share a few things.
The first thing that welcomes you to jinja is the bridge. This was built a few years ago and it excites everyone that passes by. It is beautiful by day, and it lights up at night!
The other thing that is outstanding in jinja is the source of river nile. The nile river is the world's longest river and it starts in jinja. One has to take a boat ride to the actual spot that is believed to be the source. This place is one of those places that generate a lot of revenue since everyone pays for entry.
The other place i want to share is the masese landing site. This is along lake victoria. Schools take students there a lot for touring and learning purposes. A lot of fishing takes place in the area and it is also a boarding place for people going to different islands.

The fish is very cheap by the way
The most outstanding street in jinja city is the jinja main street. The street is right in the middle of town and it is a very long stretch from the beginning of town to the end of it. The street was recently renovated and filled with street lights.
Jinja is also known for the famous nile bungee jump.
It is the only place in the country that offers bungee jumping. The place had been closed for renovations but it recently reopened for the jump last month. In the picture below, the green rails up above is the bungee tower.
There is also generation of hydro electric power. This is done at the old bridge. The water is pumped at a very high speed and that way, electricity is generated. The dam supplies power to almost the entire country.
Also, recently there were rapids discovered on the nile river. The place is called busowooko falls. The place is really beautiful and many people have been visiting it. People can even camp there overnight.
Since jinja has very many water bodies, it is so easy to capture the best sunset pictures. I love going by the lake or by the river to just sit and listen to the sound of yhe waves and then after, capture pictures of the sunset. The picture below was shot from jinja sailing club, which is one of the oldest hotels in the area. It was recently renovated though, and now it looks pretty beautiful and new.
I hope these pictures i have shared give you a glimpse of my beautiful town. Keep in mind that this is just a snippet of what jinja has to offer. Maybe some other time i will be able to share more. Until then, steem on!
