Castle Rock is an interesting mystery anthology series and it has 2 seasons
I remember last year being all excited to see that a new series was being produced based on the work of Stephen King, which as you know, is one of the most famous writers of the horror and mystery genres.
I didn't know that this series was going to be an anthology until this year I realized that season 2 had nothing to do with season 1. In my case, I am happy with this because I really enjoy anthology series. Some of my favorite ones are Black Mirror (my favorite), American Horror Story, the sadly canceled Channel Zero, and the best horror series I've seen named The Haunting of Hill House which has a second season coming out next year.
At this moment I have already seen the full season 1 since last year, and currently, I have watched 4 episodes from season 2. So I think I have seen enough to write my own review on this show. Both seasons have been good, but let's start with the first one, which is also the one I have seen complete:
The mystery of this season is about a guy of suspicious appearance and personality, who ends up in prison and the only words he mentions are the name of a man originally from that city, and who is a lawyer. It is clear that the normal procedures of the police were not followed with this guy, and we even learned that he was kidnapped and kept in a hidden part of the prison. However, we eventually realize that all this had a very creepy explanation, and that the circumstances that condition this whole story are completely fortuitous, accidental and disastrous in equal parts.
In the story there are several paranormal elements but not enough to make this series one of terror, it is simply mystery, science fiction and paranormal things that create a whole sequence of events, and a very intriguing environment. This season can provide a good time and encourage viewers in figuring out what is happening in this mysterious place. I can tell you that the mystery is well crafted and, in the end, the story fulfills its promise of being good quality entertainment. Let's start now with season 2:
In this season, the story revolves around a mother who has mental problems, and her teenage daughter. They move to a somewhat abandoned and lonely town, and it soon becomes clear that this mother seems to be escaping and protecting her daughter from something, but we don't know what specifically.
At the beginning, this season seemed much quieter and less mysterious than the first one, but eventually we find paranormal events that seem to indicate a very large plot. In episode 4 the magnitude of what we see on screen is still unclear, what is clear is that this magnitude seems to grow and grow with nothing to stop it. And it also seems that the mother is aware of this danger, perhaps that is the cause of her mental problems? Who knows...
I think this new season is about dark forces, and I have to be this ambiguous so not to say spoilers, and all the efforts made by the people of a small town in the United States to survive, especially the mother who despite her madness is maybe the one that is most aware of the danger that lurks, because most people still do not know ...
In conclusion, the new season looks great and I hope it has a satisfactory ending. Both seasons are recommended for mystery lovers.
