The Legacy of the Bones - Dark secrets with a familiar touch

After watching the first part of this trilogy I was very thirsty for more information about the mythological part of the first movie. Well, this didn't get more exploration, in turn, the second movie provides us with new important information about the childhood of the main character and some dark secrets from people very close to her.

It is clear this family has more than 1 issue, this becomes obvious in the first movie and now, in the second movie, the viewer will realize how twisted this all is. The people from this time are very superstitious, they not only believe in a mythological creature, but they also have other customs such as trying to understand a particular situation by dealing with cards.

The darker part of this superstitious aspect of their lifestyle will be further explored and it becomes disturbing, or at least it tries to be. It is thanks to these beliefs that a lot of bad events can be properly explained. The supernatural/mythological part is as real as in the first movie, but so far it doesn't take an active role in the main plot. It is rather a subplot with a lot of intrigue.

The acting was good, just like the first movie. Even though these events are months after those from the first movie the weather in this place is still the same. Rain and more rain. In this film, the main actress is the mother of a newborn baby, and the amount of risk she takes isn't believable.

I don't think a mother of such a small baby will be willing to take so high risks in solving a case. It wouldn't make sense because the stakes would be extremely high. Besides, the father temporary go to another town for some work and she still is taking risks. I don't buy it, especially because she knows this place is the home of an evil person/people that have committed horrible crimes.

It is a good followup from the first movie and most mystery lovers will probably enjoy this film. It is not a scary movie even though there are some dark parts where we see bad people acting creepily. The atmosphere is eerier than that of the first movie.

The best

• It has a good plot just like the first one.
• It provides more information about what is really happening in this dark little town.

The worst

• The main character wasn't as believable this time, I find it hard to believe a mother would take the same decisions.
