October 26, 19: Chores, Grocery Shopping, and a Neat Project

Today was the first day in quite some time that I struggled to get to the ten thousand mark. To be completely honest, I don’t even have it as I’m writing this post...still have about five hundred to go, but I’ll do some laps around the house to make sure that the streak remains intact.

Had a pretty good debate over in Neoxian discord regarding inflation and the printing of money. I took the less popular position that inflation is bad whereas my counterpart took the textbook Keynesian position. This was prompted by the fact that I learned today that the Fed has started Quantitative Easing again and printed more USD last month ($210 billion) than the entire bitcoin market cap!!! Is that the sound of the value of the dollar falling I hear?!

Was back to being a pretty gross day again today; raining 🌧 hard and cold 🥶. I totally did not want to go out there, and as such, I stayed inside and did some inside things. Did some chores, dishes and garbage and the like, watched some YouTube news and programming tutorials, and played some steemmonsters.

Not too bad today on SM. Got fire for my daily quest, which is one of my stronger decks, and I was able to get up onto Gold I with a few days still left in the season. The rewards were reasonable, at least better than I have been getting recently.

After that, since the wife was working today and we were in dire need, I went and did the grocery shopping so that we have the whole day off tomorrow to go for a long walk and stuff 😉

Since I didn’t really take any pictures today, I thought it might be fun to share with you a nifty little project I did a while back; making an aluminum ball.

I started with a bit of foil that was used to cover some leftovers...figured I might give it a second life:

I added a few more scraps that I had around (yes, I horde aluminum foil), but it still wasn’t very big, so I busted into the fresh stuff in the kitchen. 🤭🤫

I didn’t really know how big it would end up, but I figured it was worth a shot as is, and so I started to compress it by hand.

A few more hours of banging it on the table and pressing as hard as I could, and it was starting to take shape and I was getting wicked tired.

Then I took after it with a hammer to get it as tightly packed as I could.

It really wasn’t getting any more compressed, so I started smoothing out the hammer marks with a very rough sandpaper.

Then to progressively finer grain sandpaper...

Then to steel wool...

And the final product! 🤗

Looks like we might get some reasonable weather in the morning, so hopefully we can get out for our weekly adventure!
