Why is it important to recycle plastic?

The main reason to recycle plastic is because its waste takes between 100 and 1,000 years to degrade. The charcoal and plastic from which it is made does not dissolve. In addition, if we recycle plastic, we will be consuming less amounts of raw materials and non-renewable natural and energy resources. This way we avoid that these are exhausted.Source
