SCHOOL FOR PARENTS: Task: difficulties and assistance to the child.

in #steempress7 years ago (edited)

Doing homework causes many problems for both children and parents. In both the younger and higher grades, a child may experience problems with schooling and, despite the difference in children's age, these problems are roughly equal in nature.

The first time, until the child develops the correct homework habits, he will need the help of the parents. To do this, you must follow the following recommendations.

Set the schedule

Source
A child should be taught to do homework at the same time every day. The task of the parents is to establish a clear daily routine for the child and ensure that the child adheres to it.

The child must understand that lessons must be learned in any case, regardless of the circumstances. It will be easier for him to understand this if he determines each day in his schedule for the task.

The child should be given some time to complete the lessons, depending on the class he is in and the complexity of the task assigned to him.

This daily routine will allow the child to plan his remaining activities and teach him to manage his time. Ask your child how long it will take to learn his lessons, and not just set aside a certain time. The child will be more responsible in fulfilling the task if he makes those decisions together.

Pay attention to the child who must devote all the time allotted to the lessons to study. Even if you do it before, the rest of the time you are required to repeat the material covered or to complete the task in another topic. Therefore, the child will not be tempted to learn lessons hastily, so that he wants to use the remaining time to play computer games or watch cartoons.

Create the right environment

Source
The study requires concentration, it is impossible to learn lessons where necessary and when necessary. Therefore, parents should create an environment for the child in which they feel comfortable with the homework.

To do this, you must first eliminate all sources of noise and distractions and find a quiet and comfortable place for your child. There should not be a television, telephone or computer near the place where the child learns the lessons (unless the computer is necessary for the child to complete the tasks).

The table on which the child learns the lessons should be large enough. At hand, you must have all the necessary accessories.

The child can turn on the music during breaks, if desired, but the rest of the time the room should be silent.

Determine the cause of the problem.

Source
If a child has difficulty learning or simply refuses to learn lessons, try to understand the reasons for this. In most cases, this is laziness.

But sometimes it just does not deal with the large number of tasks that are given. When you know the true cause of the problem, it is easier for you to find a solution.

Understand the school curriculum.

Source
Parents should be aware that the child is in school. Communicate regularly with school teachers, find out what your child is strong and what difficulties they have with him.

Children tend to pay less attention to things that are difficult for them. Parents should help the child deal with what they do not understand. Take an interest in the success of the child in school and actively participate in his life.

Trust but verify

Source
If the child says that he learned the lessons or received a good grade for the test, there is no reason not to believe him. But if before, in such cases, he caught the child in a lie, he should be on guard.

Communicate with the teachers at the child's school and, from time to time, find out what they asked you to take home (especially in cases where the child says he has no assignment).

Show your child a good example.

Source
While the child is learning lessons, try not to make noise in the house: do not turn on the television, do not speak loudly on the telephone.

If you are in the same room with your child when you learn lessons, if possible, do not use a mobile phone or other electronic devices, this will distract you. If the child is reading a textbook, he can also read a book or a magazine.

If the child is learning math, he can also do some calculations (for example, calculate how much money he needs to spend on future purchases). This will help the child understand that the skills he masters, learn lessons, will be useful in real life. This will increase the motivation to perform the task.

Help, but do not do homework

Source
Distinguish clearly between helping your child with homework and doing homework for the child. When a teacher at a school asks parents to help a child learn the lessons, he should help, and not complete the tasks for him. Of course, this can increase the child's grades, but think about the consequences for him after a while.

Therefore, understand that the child must perform the tasks by himself, and you can help him only in cases where he does not understand something.

Neither should you correct the mistakes made by the child in his task, unless he discusses it with the child himself.

If the child makes mistakes in the task, the teacher understands what gaps in knowledge he has and looks for a way to fill them.

If the parents correct the mistakes themselves, the child will not learn the material. In addition, the child may be upset when he heard from his parents that he had done the homework incorrectly and without receiving detailed explanations.

When a child is preparing for the test, parents should do everything possible to help them learn the information and evaluate existing knowledge.

Use time wisely

Source
If you have two children who go to school, it is likely that it will be difficult for you to keep track of them all. It is possible to establish a certain order: a child performs easier tasks independently and, at this time, is helping the second with more complex tasks.

After that you help the second child. So you can control the task and help the two children. If your spouse is at home at this time, the task is simplified: each of you can take lessons with one of the children or help with a specific topic.

If the spouse returns late from work and lacks time, the oldest child can work with the child. The child is more motivated to learn the example of a greater partner than the instructions and morals of the parents.

Use the services of a tutor.

Source
If a child has difficulties with a particular subject at school, he can use the services of a tutor. It will help the child complete the missing knowledge, without introducing emotions into the learning process, as parents do.

Many children are more willing to cooperate with someone who is not their parents. At the disposal of tutors there are many teaching tools and methods that will help the child.
