It Has Been a Very "Slow" Start to the Year, For Us...

in WORLD OF XPILAR3 years ago

It has been a really slow start to the year this year.

I had really hoped to start off 2022 with a lot of energy and resolve, but instead I find myself lagging and feeling tired.

In part this is a result of the fact that we had this major winter snowfall event the day after Christmas, accompanied by extremely low temperatures that kept the snow on the ground and formed a nice layer of ice on the roads for more than a week; in part it's due to the fact that both my wife and I have been battling fairly severe colds since the day after Christmas, as well.

It's very difficult to feel inspired and active when your head feels like it filled with cotton wool!

I keep meaning to make a my "2022 Steemit Goals" post for this year but I just haven't gotten there yet. I feel bad about that, but at least I made a note of the end-of-year figures so when and if I do get around to making such a post at least I have the numbers handy.

To be honest, I'm not really that big into New Year's resolutions and all that stuff but I do like to make a quick note — at least for my own benefit — of where I was when the year started, so that way I have something I can look back at when we get to the end of the year.

At the moment, I'm eyeing the crypto markets with a certain degree of nervousness, ever since Bitcoin decided to fall off a cliff again this afternoon. I guess it's just part of this game we're playing that things can get wildly volatile.

I had hoped we were going to see $1.00 Steem by the end of the year (2021) unfortunately that just didn't happen. Sadly, we didn't even get to see $0.50 Steem.

Sometimes I wonder about this whole cryptocurrency experience; specifically I wonder about whether we've gotten to a place of having developed unrealistic expectations surrounding how much we're going to get out of this.

Let's not forget that these things were originally created as a currency, meaning a "means of exchange" to be used with goods and services, and this whole idea that we're going to make tons of money because we have cryptocurrency is something that was added much later… and certainly it looks more like good old fashioned Wall Street greed than a new alternative to money.

It can be really difficult to effectuate real change in the world, particularly in people's financial habits.

Aside from that, I don't have any real wisdom to offer tonight so perhaps my energy is really best spent going off to bed and trying to get a decent night's sleep!

Regardless, thanks for taking the time to stop by my silly post, and I hope you have a great remainder of your week!

How about YOU? Are you feeling motivated this year? Have you set goals for your Steemit activities for 2022? Or is stuff like that not important to you? Do leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!

Love the photos and hope the current snowy situation doesn't last overly long!
I always try and set regular goals, not only for new year. I have found its the best way to make real advances in life.

SBD is having a healthier time even if steam hasn't made that push yet. I always feel it can happen in the future as I have known the good old days here and tell myself they will return one day.

Stay well! and warm!
