You Gotta Start SOME-where!

Having been through the process of reinventing myself many times, I know that the process can sometimes almost always be overwhelming.

Anyway, since very little of what I've started in recent years has enjoyed any degree of success — and I'm only talking about writing here — I've decided that maybe the best approach is to go backwards and reboot some of the things I slowly let slip away around the time when I first found my way to Steemit.

Seeing as that was almost nine years ago I've learned quite a bit since then. Meaning, that I can look back and take some of the old ideas I had and add 9 years of new insights to basically reimagine what I was originally working with.

My area has virtually always been psychology, human nature, personality and human development. How can we make our lives better? Moreover, how can we take what we already have and make it work better for us, rather than seeking out medical or psychological help in hopes that we can get a magic pill to make things work better for us.

I've never been very fond of the eternal medicalization we seem to engage in in the western world, preferring instead to take an approach of looking at what I have to work with and then finding the best ways to move forward with that.

Of course, that is not a very popular approach from the perspective that it's not really a "profit center" for some insurance company or health care organization.

That probably sounds very strange to readers who haven't experienced the healthcare system in the USA — which is very much "for profit" — where the whole idea of care is a bit of a misnomer.

As someone who's "neurodivergent" AND afflicted with ADHD, I have actually avoided getting any kind of medical diagnosis for the very reason that I would simply get a bunch of pharmaceuticals thrown at me, while not being taught any actual coping skills.

Which is not really very useful... much in the same way some of those new diet pills are not useful in the sense that they do nothing to teach people how to develop better habits, in the first place.

Anyway, this is somewhat of a preamble to the fact that I will probably be posting more psychology and self-help type content over the coming months and into next year... and putting it in front of an audience that is outside the walls of Steemit.

Who knows, it might even bring some new people here... after all that's how I discovered Steemit, in the first place... by reading an article.

At least that's the plan for now. But since I have a limited span of attention, my intentions may change!

In the meantime, thanks for stopping by, and welcome to December!
