GREETINGS TO ALL WONDERFUL STEEMIANS

Greetings to all members of this prestigious community and to you who take out time to read this post. You are welcome to my blog and today I will be telling you all l know about my country season, Nigeria.

Please follow through as l use the guidelines questions to explain more about my unique country.

How many seasons in your country? Which one is your favorite and why?

Here in my country, we have three unique seasons _ Viz:

Raining season which starts from April to October. It comes with abundant of rainfall which leads to cooler temperature and higher humidity. It can be a welcoming relief from the heat of the dry season. It also replenishes lost water to ground whereby bringing life to flora and fauna. It also enables harvesting and cultivations.

The dry season which starts from November to March. It is a season we have hot temperature with no rain or at times a very little falls. As a result of the high temperature, you should use hand fan any time you would attend occasion. In some cases the season leads to drought conditions , making it difficult for crops and livestock to survive. Dry season brings about insufficient supply of vegetables leading to high cost of leaving and hardship in some environment.

The third is harmattan season which occurred form November to January. It marks the beginning of dry season. Harmattan season is often characterised by a strong dry winds and cooler temperatures accompanying by dewdrops. l recognise it when we have hazy, dusty skies and distinctive smell of a dry air. It is a transitional period between raining and dry season that is the reason why some people don't characterised it as a separate season.

1000000662.jpg A nice season.

Back in the decades ago, lt was easy for our forefathers to predict and differentiate seasons according to their monthly occurrences.

But currently, some of thier prediction fails and we really can't identify the month it starts and the month it ends.

Recent global warming has altered some natural processes making it difficult for us to be precised as regard the month a particular season will come and how long it will last.

Talking about my favourite season and why it, l love and prefer rainy season because it is the season during which rain falls every way flourish with green vegetation, reduction in adverse heat and dust experience during dry season. There is a lovely moment to sleep at night and spend time at home when raining especially for those that are married...😀😀.

If there was one season you wanted to skip forever, which one would it be? Explain the reason.

To be very honest, this is a tough question! As l explained above, all of these season has their own benefit, some comes with wonderful food, fruit and vegetables.

I noticed that there are certain fruit that can only be found in rainy as a result of sufficient water in the ground or dry Season as a result of heat. There are some crops and fruit that awaits harmattan to set in. As such all the season is great and unique by nature wherefore contributing to great sustainces of the ecosystem.

During dry season

My princess enjoying raining season .

This is one environment in two seasons, the difference is clear.

It is not in my power to remove or skip any of this season. They were designed to exist by the supreme designer of the whole universe based on His intellect. Imagine, since last week l have been praying for rainfall for the growth of my crops but till now...to no avail. Who am I to tell any season exist or don't?

Hence, I love and value all of the three seasons we have. My special thanks goes to our heavenly Father and Creator because He always help us adapt to all seasons no matter their adversity at times.

Describe a traditional or special activity that people in your country do during a particular season.

Since the question talks about the traditional activity. The one that is on going now is farming work, although lt is rampant in rural areas here in Nigeria especially the northern part of the country.

I may not be a farmer but on this raining season, l also join in farming like planting of some basic crop within my scope because it is done here by every during the start of rainy season. I called it garden because it is not a large farm.

In few months to come, l will have a lot good foodies and bounties from my farm like maize, pumpkin, tomatoes, yam and little more.

In special activities, there is a traditional activity that always take place in my state(Akwa Ibom State) in particular during dry season. It is called Uwana wrestling festival. It a competition, that is held in town of Uruan local government. The festival takes place every year and it is attended by thousands of people all over the state.

Exception of the wrestling competition that highlighted the festival, there are also beauty pageant, musical performances and a variety of traditional dance.

There is another celebration called "New Yam festival", which brings family and community together.

During dry season, lt is easier for people to travel from one place to another with no much disturbance and less stress on the road or air. so as such, several occasions like the aforementioned and marriage ceremony and anniversaries are held here during the said season.

Are there any special foods or drinks that people in your country enjoy most during certain seasons? If so, what is it and why?

Actually, we don't really have much of special food or drink for any season. So many things that are common during one season is also available during another. But here in my country with particular preference to my state...Akwa Ibom....we have a see food that is common mostly in mid raining season which people here really enjoy during time. I'm talking about a particular fish called "inanga" in our dialect but in english it is called cat fish. We are expecting that time soon here.

The fish is basically used in preparing one of our local delicacies called fisherman soup. Anytime you are opportune to see your self in my dear state (Akwa Ibom) in Nigeria within the month of may, June and July, enter any eatery and request for fisherman soup with swallows as locally prepared here, you will enjoy it to the full and never regret coming to my state..😀.

Most cases also, fruit are seasonal some comes once in a year while some comes twice. Like star apple, it comes only once in a year while fruit like quaver and orange are twice or perhaps at all seasons all though may be less in quantity in the market.

During rainy season we enjoyed lot of fruit like mango, pear, avocado pear, five finger, tomatoes orange and lot more.We have vegetables like carrot, cabbage, green beans and green ball pepper.

Mixed fruit in the season, we enjoyed

1000000676.jpg

We also have opportunity to cultivate crops like cassava, yam, beans water yam, cocoyam, plantain, banana, potatoes and maize.During this season food are not costly because some people are cultivating them in their gardens.

During my youthful age, l can still remember how my class teacher in elementary school days use to send us errands of searching for water leave from bush for planting in the farm.We use to bring in quantum for her because it is sufficient when rain drops.

1000000650.jpg My special Coconut.

1000000670.jpg
A bunch of plantain

During dry season we look for fruit that contains water so as the satisfied our dry throats. Coconuts is one of my favourite during this season.

I cherish all the season because our creator, the Almighty knew thier function and usefulness before, he gives us such.

I would like to invite @yancar, @sduttaskitchen, @eliany @chant and @imadear to share thier season.

ABOUT MYSELF
Sort:

Talking about my favourite season and why it, l love and prefer rainy season because it is the season during which rain falls every way flourish with green vegetation, reduction in adverse heat and dust experience during dry season.

Oh, I can totally relate! Rainy season has a special charm, doesn't it? I remember as a traveler, once I was caught in a sudden downpour while exploring a lush forest. It was like stepping into a magical world where everything glistened with life. I think rainy season brings a sense of renewal and freshness to the surroundings. Plus, the sound of raindrops tapping on the roof is just so soothing, especially for a good night's sleep!

During dry season we look for fruit that contains water so as the satisfied our dry throats. Coconuts is one of my favourite during this season.

Ah, dry season can really make you appreciate the simple joys like a refreshing coconut! I remember as a father, once I took my kids on a camping trip during the dry season, and we stumbled upon a grove of coconut trees. It was like stumbling upon an oasis in the desert! I think there's something satisfying about cracking open a coconut and savoring its sweet water to quench your thirst on a hot day. It's moments like those that make you appreciate nature's bounty.

During my youthful age, l can still remember how my class teacher in elementary school days use to send us errands of searching for water leave from bush for planting in the farm.

Oh, that sounds like a nostalgic memory! I remember as a child, my grandmother used to send me on similar errands to gather herbs from her garden. It was like embarking on a treasure hunt! I think those experiences taught me the value of hard work and connecting with nature. It's funny how simple tasks like gathering leaves for planting can hold such fond memories, isn't it?

All the best

Greetings dear, thanks so much for taking time on my post and adding a valuable comments

Indeed it's difficult to choose cause too much of everything can be harmful and also I think our body/health needs all this three seasons to function well. All the season are special in their own ways. But I would like to go with harmattan but this season seems to froze everything 🤦
All the best dear 🤝
