In the little fix of thick woods, only adjoining the primary street, you will discovered little walkway entering the backwoods. As I strolled down for while, I saw developments on the tall mango tree. Before I could make out what it was, the creature vanished in the shade. The tree on which the creature was seen was from the course I was following. Shama winged creature was singing extremely pleasant tune. In the wake of tuning in to the call I chose to find the fowl. As I found the fledgling and achieved near it, the winged animal flew towards a branch near me, sat there for some time. Before I could take the snap, the winged creature vanished in the shrub a long ways behind. This find the stowaway proceeded for about thirty minutes. Bhimashankar isn't simple woods for photography. With tall evergreen woodland even on the most recent day of the late spring, I encountered this inside couple of minutes, as I endeavored to photo the Shama flying creature. I surrendered and focussed on tuning in to the feathered creature. The tune was being exasperates, by moderate horns and music from the vehicles from the street. I went to Bhimashankar on fifth June, extend multi day before mansoon downpours touched base in Bhimashankar. With little mists covering the backwoods fix intermitently, I needed to change my camera settings, all the time. I took snaps of moths and reptiles. I saw yellow bulbul, White bellied Blue flycatcher and Red throated flycatcher moving in the hedge.

The State roadway that goes through the timberland fix takes travelers to Bhimashankar place of worship (One of 12 Jyotirlingas). A gathering of energetic explorers halted their vehicle, and began taking gathering snaps. As these common urban youthful people began making excessively of clamor out and about, sudden noisy rattling commotion originated from tree top. The pioneers were hushed by the rattling. The explorers left soon for the sanctuary. As I moved towards the tree around 50 meters from the primary street. I saw a long tail dangling from the tree limb.

The tail was around 2 ft in the length, with dark colored shading and rich shading toward the end. I endeavored to get the full view, however rather got just a look at confront. Different subspecies of Indian mammoth Squirrels, have distinctive shading plans.

I distinguished the creature as "Shekru", Marathi name of the Indian Giant Squirrel that is found in this piece of western ghat woodland. I sat tight calmly beneath the tree for about half hour for Shekru to turn out on open branch. As the creature went ahead open branch, I got a few snaps of the squirrel. Here are a portion of the pictures with some data that I gathered later at night when I returned home.

The Scientific name of the Indian Giant Squirrel is "Ratufa indica". The one that is found in Bhimashankar is called as "Ratufa indica elphistoni". The Indian monster squirrel is "Helpless" species according to IUCN Red List. They are dark colored in shading with buff-hued underparts

This creature is State creature of Maharashtra State. Shekru is creature which experience all the time on trees, require consistent shade of tall trees as its natural surroundings. It once in a while descends on the ground. I additionally saw the creature crossing the street, along the tree top shade and returning frequently. Congruity of the tree top shelter is critical for these creatures. Any discontinuity of the shelter will make the survival of Shekru troublesome.

shekru makes uproarious rattling clamor when it fears for the assault by predators. The creature cautions different Shekrus. The creature fabricates settles on the tree top utilizing leaves and twigs. It once in a while descends the trees on the land.

It is recorded as Vulnerable Species in EUCN red rundown. The predators of this creature are huge prey winged animals and leaopards. It is additionally in peril because of slaughtering for its hide by people. It is said that the creature can get by without natural products by eating leaves in the season when the organic products are alarms. Because of its noisy rattling calls it can be found effectively by the predators.

Bhimashankar is in North Westen Ghat region, with overwhelming downpours in Misty Mansoon season. It sees around 6000 mm precipitation every year. Thus the best time, to find the Shekru is in pre-spring and summer. In mansoon never wander here with costly photoequipments. It is extremely fascinating to see this creature laying on its stomach on the tree limb and eating organic products by holding them in the hands.
