STEEMCHURCH: I will wait on His Word

Whatever need I may have today in my life I can always find a promise in the Word of God, which can easily be adapted to that need. If I feel weak and tired, I find a promise like this: He gives strength to the tired and breath to the low spirits.

When I read a promise like that I feel the support not only of the promise, but of the one who gave the promise. If I feel lonely and abandoned, he tells me: I will not leave you, nor forsake you, and that promise reminds me of the one who said it. I know he does not lie. I know that he never says something that he does not fulfill, God always fulfills everything he promises.

If today I am hungry for God, I want to seek Him with all my heart and feed on His goodness, I find then this promise: Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. With these promises I not only find strength and security but they make me say as the psalmist: Remember the word you have given to your servant, in which you have made me wait.

I can arrive safely, confidently and with much respect before the throne of his grace and tell him, Lord you have said it, I have believed in your word and in it I have waited, and in expressing it my soul fills with confidence and security. Today I can wait on the promises of God and be sure that I will never be disappointed. Her word remains forever and she makes me trust.

If today I feel disconsolate because sin has led me down the path of sadness and my rebellions seem to increase, his promise comes to me to say: I undone as your cloud rebellions, as fog your sins, turn to me. Jesus said clearly, heaven and earth will pass, but my words will not pass. His promises are like a fortress amid the daily difficulties and anguish of life.

Life sometimes surprises me, more amid those surprises the Word of God also surprises me with one or several promises that fit preciously to the surprise of life. With God, the surprises of life do not scare me, but the surprises of God amaze me.

Sir, Thank you for your precious and great surprises, those surprises are promises and in those promises I can always be confident. A promise from you is like a check written in my name by the President of a bank. You are the creator of the universe and my life.

I can make your promises effective in the reality of your presence. In them I can rest. Always your words come at the most needed moment of my life and in that promise I find faith. Amen.

Sort:

God gives us promises to help us submit to his will better and trust him. A promise does not cause God to bow to our will.

The Holy Spirit can still use a specific promise to guide or encourage any of his children. For example, the promise of Isaiah 54:10 was written with Israel in mind, yet the Holy Spirit has used these words to comfort many Christians today: "... but my mercy shall not depart from you, nor the covenant of my peace will be broken ... Waiting on the word of the lord is the best thing to do.

The word wait means to hope, to anticipate, and to trust. To hope and trust in the
Lord requires faith, patience, humility, meekness, long-suffering, keeping the commandments, and enduring to the end.

He has returned. That is the word

You know what surprises about the word of God? It refreshes my soul everyday even if I decided to read the same verse over and over again. You can never have enough!
