I picked up the mining business again to support the crypto revolution some more!

I am very pumped to tell you the exciting news about my mining rigs. As you all probably know my adventure in Bitcoin started in 2012 with mining bitcoins and later doge coins and many other cryptos. I dropped all the mining business when my father got sick and bitcoin had its first crash. I turned to Hodling and trading and left mining for what it was. Because I want to support the crypto revolution to the fullest I decided to pick up the mining business again and while there run some full nodes as well.

Whats the difference between mining and a node?
A full node is a complete copy of the blockchain and is able to verify all transactions since the beginning of a coin. For Bitcoin, this currently requires about 140GB of drive space. A lightweight node is one that has verified all prior transactions; however, it has deleted all blocks below a certain space requirement, but still has a copy of the UXTO set. It, therefore, takes fewer resources on your computer.

A miner, on the other hand, creates blocks in the blockchain which the nodes keep safe. Basically, the miner works on transactions by coming up with the best combination (hash) to store that information. Miners spend about 10 minutes working on a problem, but nodes keep that result forever after in the blockchain and verify it with others. Miners, with very few exceptions, don't need to know about prior blocks.

So, there is a big difference between a miner and a full node. With both, you support the crypto revolution and that's what counts!

Why do you support the crypto revolution through mining and running a node?

It truly helps the network
Running node means playing your part in making sure that all rules of the protocol are being followed. That’s because nodes work by rejecting transactions and blocks that do not follow the rules of the network. Full nodes enforce the consensus rules no matter what. However, lightweight nodes do not do this. Lightweight nodes do whatever the majority of mining power says. Therefore, if most of the miners got together to increase their block reward, for example, lightweight nodes would blindly go along with it.

Your opinion counts
As forks get more and more common, running a full node is the only way to officially state that you support the old network, or that you would like to shift towards the new one. Not running a node means that your opinion as a user will not be taken into consideration.

It provides better anonymity
While coins are not and can't be fully anonymous, running a node does grant users more privacy. For making a transaction, you won't need to rely on third-party services to broadcast transaction details. Your node will do all the work, and other nodes will not know which addresses you own.

I bought some rigs and started to participate in a company called GenisysTech which sells and hosts these mining rigs for you. Check the miners at https://www.genisystech.nl/miners!

Good work supporting bitcoin.

Dude that is bad ass. I want to get in to this sooooo bad but I know nothing about minning or running a node. I need to look into that genisys link and see if there is something around my area where I can kinda ride someones coat tails and learn from a master or at least learn from someone.

I understand the incentive to start mining. But apart from having a vote and supporting the network, do you earn any bitcoin for running a node?

wow! sweet. nice moves.
