KNOW THE BEAUTIFUL ITALY

in #ita7 years ago (edited)

Located in Mediterranean Europe, Italy is one of the most important European countries for its great quantity of history and its peculiar tradition and cuisine, making it one of the most popular places to visit the city.

It is divided into five geographic regions, and among the most popular cities are Rome, Milan, Venice, Florence, Bologna, Naples and Pisa, as well as the islands of Sicily and Sardinia.

Piazza Navona

It is one of the most impressive and famous Roman squares. It is located in the place where Domiziano Emperor ordered the construction of a stadium for Greek athletic games along with musical and equestrian performances that were part of the "Capitoline Competition" in honor of Jupiter. The perimeter of the square highlights the elongated shape of the ancient monument. The surrounding buildings are built on the foundations of the stadium stands. Part of the stadium is visible in the Tor Sanguigna square.

Three baroque fountains adorn the square: the Fountain of the Four Rivers by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in the center, the Fountain of the Moro and the Fountain of Neptune at the other end. Highlights the church of Sant'Agnese in Agone di Francesco Borromini, restored in 2006-2007, one of the greatest works of the Roman Baroque. The two great artists were ruthless and there are those who believe in the gesture of one of the central source statues, the Rio de la Plata, Bernini's contemptuous message about the precarious stability of the church.

La Torre di Pisa

The Pisa tower or Pisa's leaning tower is the bell tower of the Duomo of Pisa, located in the Piazza del Duomo in Pisa, in the town of the same name, common in the Italian region of Tuscany and capital of the homonymous province .

The tower began to tilt as soon as the construction began in August 1173. Its height is between 55.7 and 55.8 meters from the base, its weight is estimated at 14 700 tonnes and the inclination of about 4 ° , which extends 3.9 m from the vertical. It has eight levels: a base of blind arches with 15 columns, six levels decorated with half open open arches and a belfry at the top. The spiral staircase has 294 steps. It is considered, beside the cathedral of which it belongs, one of the jewels of Romanesque art.

il colosseo romano

The Colosseum is undoubtedly one of the great tourist attractions in Rome. He was brought to the movies on several occasions, highlighting above all the digital reconstruction shown in the film The Gladiator.

In 1980, UNESCO declared the historic center of Rome, including the Coliseum, a world heritage site.10 Since 2000, the authorities have maintained the illuminated building for 48 hours each time a sentence is switched or postponed in any part of the world. of death to a convicted person.

This Rome Classica monument was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the Modern World, according to the honorary designation made in Lisbon on July 7, 2007, under the New 7 Wonders contest, organized by Swiss Bernard Weber, of which Unesco is completely disengaged. [citation required]

The Colosseo was evacuated August 7, 2011 due to a bomb alert, which was non-existent. A phone call had reported that there was a box with hanging threads. According to the mayor of Rome, "I had a little turpentine, a battery and two cables, but no explosive materials."

In the summer of 2016 it culminated a painstaking task of cleaning the exterior of the building, the first integral type that was carried on throughout its history; a process begun almost three years before. Funded by the Tod's shoe company, the restoration consisted in washing the surfaces with water jet (respecting the stone and marble) and replacing inadequate stucco. This work, with a budget of 10 million euros, will continue the restoration of the interior of the Coliseum and a modernization of the services for the visitors, thanks to another game of 15 million.

Another part that still suffers today are the so-called vomitorios, which are the exits through which you can access corridors to get out of the Coliseum. They allowed a large number of people to leave in a short time, so that 50,000 people could be evacuated in about five minutes. Many stages at this time have not been able to match these works and their great functionality.

Piazza della Scala

It is a pedestrian street in Milan, connected to the main square of the city (Piazza del Duomo) through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. It is named in honor of the famous Scala Theater, which occupies the northwest side of the square; In addition to the theater, this building houses the Theatre Museum at Scala, dedicated to the history of the Scala and to the work in general. On the opposite side of the Scala, south-east, is Palazzo Marino, the city hall of Milan. Another important building located in the square is the Palazzo della Banca Commerciale Italiana, on the northeast side. The southwest side of the square opens the entrance to Galleria Víctor Manuel II and Palazzo Beltrami. Most of the buildings in the square are the work of architect Luca Beltrami, who designed the homonymous palace, the facade of Palazzo Marino and the building of the Italian Commercial Bank. In the center of the square there is a monument to Leonardo da Vinci, the work of the sculptor Pietro Magni.

Knowing Venice

The city is built on an archipelago of 118 small islands joined together by 455 bridges, if we include the islands of Murano and Burano. Venice can be reached from the mainland by the Ponte della Libertà, which from the nearby town of Mestre enters Piazzale Roma. Within the city there is no traffic, except for navigating through the channels that separate the islands, a totally pedestrian city. Collective transport is carried out by ferries known as vaporetti.

Going to the gondola pier in front of the Doge's Palace, we find this beautiful bridge made of white stone that communicated the old court with the prison. Although his name evokes some romance and makes us "sigh" with admiration, this bridge has earned his nickname because of the prisoners coming from the court to the jail, which stopped for a few seconds to look through the small windows the splendid view of the Venice Lagoon, sighing to know that perhaps they would no longer see the sunlight.

And it is that Venice is in itself an open-air museum, a world heritage where you can live as the population was centuries ago due to the little that has changed. In addition to its historic architecture, with the charm of its canals and gondolas, it is undoubtedly the most beautiful city in Europe.
