On appreciating and experiencing Sogne with its exciting and interesting history; On perceiving the township just as it comes and can be imagined!
You know, Sogne is a township located a bit west for Kristiansand, and Kristiansand is the capital of Sorlandet, and the main city in the Southern part of Norway, but we are liking many places in Agder, and Sogne is one of them! And there are really three great events in the history of Sogne; The first is about the known author and Nobel Prize winner in literature Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, and his father was a priest in Sogne, and in 1903 Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson received the Nobel Prize in literature, and he got it for his ways of showing an inspiring freshness and a rare honesty on things and events and situations that were coming, being and leaving.
So, Sogne is mainly known for three events recently. The first thing is that Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson was here, and in the short story «The Father» the main person Thord Øveraas goes from prosperity and pride through deep despair to humility, and that is an important lesson to learn from many people being perceiving and experiencing the life just as the life is and can be. And when things are happening in this short story, Thord has talked to the priest, and he has always asked "Is there anything else?", and every time Thord replies “Otherwise there is nothing”. And this is the strange and exciting and interesting and funny manners about how things are happening in small conditions and small places when we are perceiving something about the life and its environments while we are here as we really as when being here. And in the garden south from Sogne Gamle Prestegaard, the garden for the priest that was Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson's father, and his name was Peder Bjørnson, and in front of the rectory stands a bust of Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, and he probably got some of his inspiration for the imaginations and the writings from here.
So, the second thing with Sogne, is the wedding on 22 August 1959 the fishmonger's daughter Anne-Marie Rasmussen and the billionaire Steven Rockefeller, and this was a big society event in 1959. They got three children in their marriage, and they were sooner divorced, and Steven Rockefeller became professor in religion in the United States. And today, he is professor emeritus a place in USA. And hence, he was smart and intelligent enough to become a professor, and we need new contributions and not just the State-of-the-Art to be new in the sciences, and telling people things that they did not know from before. And Steven Rockefeller has worked much with education, also within the system of the United Nations, and hence we should accept and respect him for what we are doing, and some competence or everything that can be known, is better than just anything, and people are here knowing much, knowing something or knowing nothing about what has gone on in the famous and admired networks that have importances in the world and the history of the world
And the third person making history in Sogne and placing Sogne on the map is Tor Harald Lund, when he in 1987 was the youngest sagittarius king in Norway, and he was just 19 years, and he is coming from Sogne, and he is working with doing maintenance and repairs with cars. And when Tor Harald won this competition in Steinkjer in Norway, he claimed; Yes, this was really great! I am looking forward to meeting my lovely friends and family when I am coming home! And in Sogne it stood on banners; Welcome home, Tor Harald! And congratulations with the victory!
And among people Sogne is known for its archipelago and the related tourism to among other things to Olavsundet and the coastal fort in Ny-Hellesund, and we even find royal brands in the Olavsund, and hence it is known for many people from many places, and further that the mountain opened up for the king Saint Olav – King of Norway, when he came from a battle at the sea, and this is a legend today, and it is still living further in our lives, just as our lives are perceiving and understood when we are here.
