Food storage, reducing waste and eating more healthy! 🙃
Well today started off with a nice trip to shops to pick up a few supplies and other bits and pieces. As always i managed to go way overboard and spent more than I had allotted for the weekend but these thing will pay it forward for years to come.
One of the more expensive purchases was a fair few kilner flip top storage jars, i've got to purchase a few more but that will have to wait until next month.

You may of seen the chalkboard labels i used on my last post, bottling my rhubarb gin up

I purchased these via Amazon and got 140 stickers in both large and small sizes with 2 chalk pens for under £8 which didn't feel like to much to pay for the hundreds of uses i can think of for them. I quite quickly realised that putting the stickers the jars then writing on them was hard so i peeled it back off and wrote them all out before applying them.
One thing that is nice is they are fairly thick so easy to peel off if needed, and they seem to wipe down easy with no damage so I’m hoping to get years of use for these also.

One thing I wasn't expecting was how expensive some things are when I stocking up on things I want to use in the jars, Nuts and seeds were so expensive I felt sick almost looking for them in a local health food shop to the point i had to leave. I did manage to get the odd bits and pieces from the supermarket but i'm going to have to look online for a cheap bulk supplier of some of the other bits i want as i not only refuse to but realistically can’t afford to pay the pieces they were asking.

I suppose this reaffirms my loathing of these celebrity chefs that bleat of about healthy eating but when you price up what they use I’d have to sell a kidney or rob a bank. No wonder people live on microwave meals and junk food, I could of got a weeks dirty shopping for the price of some of this seed’s…. # end of rant
I may just do some posts on recipes that are great tasting, healthy and won't lead to the selling of vital organs or bank robbing 🤪
Tomorrow is a new day and i'll be back out in the garden starting another DIY project and catching up on the seed sowing and weeding! Hope you have a great day to!
As always thanks for dropping by and reading my posts, if you like what you see think about upvoting, resteeming and possibly following my blog.
All the best
Dan
That's so neat it hurts. My Mum would approve. It looks like my cupboards at the start of the term but not at the end haha... good organisation skills!!!
