The Tuk-Tuk of Thailand

Thailand, being the car capital of Asia, has major traffic issues. Cars are sold for cheap due to the economies of scale. The average employee could afford to buy one, resulting in serious congestion across the main thoroughfares of its capital city of Bangkok.

The tuk-tuk is one of its iconic symbols. It traces its roots back to the second world war where it was used as a primary mode of transport. The tuk-tuk being a motorized version of that ancestor, still managed to survive down to this day.

When stuck in traffic, the tuk-tuk can whisk you away to your destination due to the fact that its slender form can criss-cross its way through traffic. It can be both a fun ride mixed with a thrilling adventure depending on how experienced or how reckless the driver is.

I have had a ride for 150 Baht. I wasn't able to take photos from having to hold on to the bars. Mere words could not describe the ride. All I could say is, when in Thailand it will not be a complete experience without having ridden the tuk-tuk.
