Chufut-Kale - Cave Town [💰↻70%]

The city appeared presumably in the 5th-6th centuries as a fortified settlement on the border of Byzantine possessions. There is a version that its fortifications were built by Byzantine engineers in two stages (between 530/550 and 560/580) to protect the strategically important defilees of Maryam-Dere and Ashlam-Dere, and to strengthen the defense of long-range approaches to Kherson
At present, most of Chufut-Kale is in ruins.
In the western, the most ancient part of it, numerous economic premises cut down in caves, the ruins of a mosque and the mausoleum of the daughter of the Golden Horde Khan Tohtamysh Janike-khanim of 1437 built
It's hard to believe that such work is done by hands without technological tools
The scale is impressive!
If you are in the Crimea, I recommend to visit this place
On the way to it you will also find the Holy Assumption Cave Monastery, a cemetery, an ancient well and unforgettable landscapes and nature of the Crimea
