Organizing Priorities [💰↻50%]

Last time we showed to you our Family's Coaching Wheel, as a method of indicating the areas of life, where our efforts are preferred.

And as soon as we've determine our most suffered area, the main question is still not answered: how it should be managed?

So, in our today's post, we will tell you about how to prioritize goals, using the scale of importance/urgency.

Step 1. Put a list of all your realistic and fantastic goals. Make it, using the brainstorm principle - do not reject goals because of their inaccessibility. Just make sure, that they are clear and concrete: for example, "have enough money" is not concrete goal and later it can be difficult to evaluate the progress. Put as a goal a specific figure, that would become your regular income.

Step 2. Form all list you've got, choose five the most important goals (plus - minus one goal - no significant deviation). But if will put to much, you make the following process more difficult for interpretation. If, nevertheless, you want to work with all your goals, you may better divide them into part, in order your following graph will be readable.

As you already chose your goals, now we should to determine the priority of each of them. The method, we will explain to you, based on the look for each of the goal through the point of their importance and of their urgency.

Put all your goals into the cycle to simplify the representation.

To avoid the influence of emotions and contextual thoughts, we will ask the same questions to every goal.

Step 3. To get the clear picture of urgency of the each goal we will ask follow question:

"If I achieve this goal, how much does it accelerate the achievement of other goals?" The answer for this question will be gradated from the 0 - points, if the achieved goal has not acceleration influence on other goals, and 10 - point, if the influence is huge and straight.

For example, one of our goals is to have own house. We counted the influence of achieving this goal to accelerate others, and received next points for each pair of goals: 2, 3, 2, 1 & 10. To get the value of the urgency of this goal need to summarize all points = 18.

Do the same exercise with with each goal in your circle.

Step 4. To get the clear picture of importance of the each goal we will ask follow question:

"If I achieve this goal, how much will it inspire me to achieve others?"

And we ask this questions from each goal to every other. And summarize the got points in the end. For example, for our "own house" we collected 28 points in importance area.

Step 5. To understand the final priority positions of your goals, you need to prepare a graph template for the prioritizing process, where the vertical axis will be named "importance", and the horizontal ones will be named "urgency".

Then divide this template in four squares by drawing a two straight lines in the middle of each scale.

Now you have four square in front of you, mark them, as it is on the picture below, and as goes from the value of each scale.

Step 6. Put all your goals on the graph, using the got points of the value of each scale.

Now you can see, which goals of you are how urgent, so important, and which are less.

Now it will be much more easer to decide, from which goal should be better to start planning. Of course, it is logical to start from the upper rights goals. And after you should choose what to continue with: the important, but not urgent, or from the urgent one...
