My 15 minutes of fame in art class (sharing a real life story) 😎🎨
I'd like to share something interesting that happened to me in elementary school.
I used to hate art lessons in elementary school because I pretty much sucked at drawing. I was talentless in that department. My drawings of people, animals, houses, objects etc., was and still is basically at kindergarten level 😄😄😄.
I barely passed the art class.
But despite that I somehow managed to have my "15 minutes of fame" as they say. To this day I'm surprised this actually happened.
It was a 90 min art class (5 or 6th grade) where the task was to paint a picture with watercolors. Now I don't excatly remember if we were limited to a certain theme (trees) or if it was free choice but the best painting would be put on display at a local hotel as the prize.
Unfortunately I never took the picture of my painting but it was basically a tree with a trunk and a treetop (it didn't even have branches). The reason I think my painting won is because I managed to put together an idilic mixture of colors of the various leaves in the treetop.
The closest painting I could find to give you an approximate visual is this one...
Imagine my shock when the teacher said she chose my picture as the winner the very next week 😮😮😮. I was like WTF? Are you kidding me? I mean I was pleased with my painting which was a rare occurrence in my case but to have the best painting out of 30+ schoolmates was a big surprise to me. I was very proud of it though. It was that much sweeter because this was something I wasn't good at, too put it mildly.
Was I channeling my creative side buried somewhere deep in side me or a past life? Or was it just a fluke. Who knows. 😊
Anyway my picture did actually get put on the display at that hotel.
What was your 15 minutes of fame? In any walk of life, no matter how small.
