What if personal development coaching doesn't really do us any good?

in #lifelast month

Finding the five keys to happiness, cultivating your sacred feminine, applying 22 protocols to emotionally liberate yourself, healing your five emotional traumas, being your own therapist, discovering the four secrets of abundance, meeting love in three months, and having the courage to be positive are all things that you should strive to accomplish.

Among the many promises that are marketed by personal development books, which are a genre that has never been more prevalent on the shelves of bookstores, these are some of the claims. It is difficult to imagine someone who would not be tempted to discover happiness and fulfilment in only a few chapters.

Nevertheless, the fact that these works are so widely distributed raises the question of whether or not they are successful. (Im)personal development is the subject of his book. In the book "The success of an imposture" (Edition de l'Observatoire), the philosopher Julia de Funès examines the phenomena of these "new guides to misguidedness" without becoming complacent. She says, "These bibles of fulfilment are real intellectual lures."

In addition, if they do not offer the assistance that we require, it is primarily due to the fact that they do not acknowledge the intricacy of every individual.

When these instructions address everyone with the same remedies, they overlook a fundamental fact: everyone of us has our own unique past, our own sufferings, our own beliefs, and our own blockages. The majority of the time, we are blissfully unaware of them and have no idea where they originate from.

Some individuals are unable to comprehend the reasons behind their continuous failures in their professional and romantic endeavours. There are other reasons why people are always feeling angry or unhappy. They have the desire to alter their lives yet are unable to do it.

Quite simply due to the fact that "They face challenges that are associated with their experiences." But these books do not assist them in delving more into the subject.

These individuals are unable to change their behaviour, despite the fact that they are encouraged to do so by these individuals. What is the end result? Not many solutions, just a sense of guilt for not being able to progress.

"These books are only useful to people who are already doing well," says Lucie Arnulf, a therapist who specialises in emotional dynamics. Even when the instructions appear to be straightforward, the sense of guilt and failure can become even more intense.
