Golden Nest Egg -Wiwcontest Week 18 Clarification

in #wiwcontest7 years ago

Retirement? Savings? Finances? Investment? Wealth? The Future? Nest Egg?

Is this what you think about when you see this image? I hope so, because I photographed it with those concepts in mind. The image is in my stock portfolio on Getty Images, so you may have seen it in financial magazines etc.. It has been quite a good seller for me, so the image has already grabbed the attention of graphics designers who have a point to get across! The nest was a real abandoned nest in our key lime tree, and the egg was a real hard boiled egg painted with real gold leaf paint.

There seems to be some misunderstanding about this week's theme fort he #wiwcontest. Please read about the requirements here.

Tho clarify a little more, the theme for week 18's #wiwcontest is OBJECT OR OBJECTS ON WHITE BACKGROUND and I am looking for objects ISOLATED on a WHITE background. This means that entries which qualify will either be deliberately photographed on a WHITE studio background, or will be isolated using a software technique similar to this one. Your images should have a clean white background like my image of the nest egg in this example!

In the business of stock photography, such images are licensed to graphics designers who will cut out the image from the background to use in advertising and web or magazine articles etc..

There have already been a few great entries, so I hope the rest of you will have fun with this theme, and I look forward to seeing many more great entries. Give it a try and good luck to all! Remember to submit only your own work, otherwise you will be reported to @steemcleaners!

Check out my Photography-101 post here for an example of how I used Adobe® Camera Raw (you can also use Adobe® Lightroom) to achieve a perfect white background!

Thanks for taking the time to read this! I appreciate it. Please check out my photography-101 account here for tips and tutorials about photography and my latest photography-101 post, What is stock photography?.

Congratz, your post has been resteemed and, who knows, will maybe appear in the next edition of the #dailyspotlights (Click on my face if you want to know more about me...)

hopefully what we tube will be a golden egg in the future to fill the old age later

hey can you teach me what is wiwcontest

It is a photography contest based on all things white. The theme changes every week. Sometimes it is something everyone can do, but sometimes it is more specialized like this week's contest! The theme for this week and the rules are here. All photography must be original work.

Your images are exquisite, Diane :)

Thank you!:-)

How is gettyimages working out with you. I have an account with them BUT I barely licensed anything through them.

I have been with them for twenty odd years now, so my case is maybe a little different, as it has been my main source of income for many years. Income has crashed dramatically in the last few years because of the glut of photography, but it is still where the bulk of my income comes from. I have over 4,000 images on there now, but I used to make 20 times more with only 1,000 images selected by image editors. Although many more images have been added over the years, it’s still mainly my older content that commands the highest royalties! Changed days, I’m afraid. Good luck in the future! Do you have a main contract, are you submitting only smartphone images?

Do you do mainly travel photography? That's the most difficult to make any money from for me, so that may be why you are not seeing sales on there. A professional photographer friend whose whole business revolved around traveling to exotic locations and hiring models etc. has quit the business altogether, as he could no longer make a profit from his work.

I had / have a main contract ( I think), it was set up through Flickr back in the days BUT they only paid me cents and pennies.

I have the regular Getty contract, and I also have a flickr one. For the most part, most of my sales are through the main contract, but every now and then the flickr contract does better - especially from some of the editorial work shot with my iPhone! It never was an easy business, and it is very difficult now for anyone to make a living from it.

So true! Doing photography for over 20 years and I'm can be happy to say I'm still at it. More or less .. haha!

We are the crazy ones! LOL!

So true ... I think we might have been better off doing something else ... haha.

That is really clever! Since I don't have a studio or use lightroom, I don't think I have anything to enter for this week.

Yes, it is s little specialized, but I do want to promote all kinds of photography on here, and to encourage those who do have the tools to use them! See you another week! 😊

LOVE THIS IMAGE! Wow, it is stunning. The background is sweet also.

I upvoted and am following you. Keep up the great work.

Thanks! I do appreciate your kindness!
